UPDATE 1-New U.S. senator helps Democrats advance jobs bill.
A modest job-creation bill advanced in the U.S. Senate on Monday as the chamber's newest Republican bucked his party and sided with Democrats on a $15 billion package of tax cuts and highway spending.
Republican Scott Brown joined four other Republicans, 55 Democrats and two independents to overcome a procedural hurdle that sets up a final vote later this week.
Brown was widely hailed as a conservative hero after his surprise victory in Massachusetts last month gave Republicans enough seats to block most Democratic legislation.
His election prompted President Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats to call for increased bipartisanship, and an earlier version of the bill was written with Republican input.
But key Republicans withdrew their support after Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid scaled it back.
Brown said the bill was not perfect but would help put people back to work.
"I hope my vote today is a strong step toward restoring bipartisanship in Washington," he said in a statement.
The bill includes a tax credit for businesses that hire unemployed workers, subsidies for state and local construction bonds and $19.5 billion to shore up a highway-construction fund.
Much of the cost is offset by a crackdown on offshore tax shelters

Doesnt shock me. He is a Rino. He is pro-abortion. STILL, at least he's not Kennedy.

Scott Brown was very up front in his victory speech and he did say he would look at everything on the table. I think the people who voted for him knew what they were getting. He is far from Conservative but then again he is no Ted Kennedy. The building industry is behind this jobs bill big time so I am sure there is plenty of pressure to push it along.

It must be different in other states. Construction jobs where I live are almost never for Americans.
-
ANOTHER RINO!!! Is there no one that has any integrity!!!?

It has been many years since I have seen a White landscaper. In all fairness though Mexicans work hard and do the job for less.

He is LOL @ conservatives.
-
They all should have voted for Joseph L. Kennedy! We need to vote for third party REAL Conservatives, no more RINO's!

They do, but when many come here, their families become a HUGE drain on the system, so their costs outways their benefit.

To some extent contractors here also try to take advantage of cheap labor however most of the owners and foreman are white Americans for the most part. The people that stand to benefit from the jobs bill the most are developers and contractors and they are the ones pushing for this the most. They also are the people with the most political clout. The workers will be riding on the coattails of the industry.

Not surprising and understandably, Scott Brown's decision didn't please several people who posted comments on his ZooTube Channel yesterday:

Illegal Mexicans work off the table and collect welfare at the same time and they "hole up" beyond maximum occupancy in whatever apartment/house they dwell in; this is how they "do it for less". Illegal aliens [along with their Leftist appeasers] have ruined California, especially here in Los Angeles.
Illegal aliens should be deported without trial. If they have kids while in the US, the kids should have Mexican citizenship transferred to them, and be deported as well, instead of being a reason the freeloaders stay and milk the system.
Our borders should be land-minded from end-to-end. My very best friend in the whole world is a Border Patrol Guard... his life and those of his co-workers are put at risk daily by illegals, coyotes and Mexican mafia TARGETING these brave noble people who protect our borders... their lives are put at risk needlessly; [Fences] Land-mines make great neighbors.
---
I cannot rend a Rider truck w/o each and every wetback Mexican asking me about my "labor" needs [the ONLY English word they know is "labor".]... they just stand outside Rider and wear orange shirts so they LOOK like they are with the company. Often these mendicants congregate outside of, Lowe's, or Home Depot, with the same shtick. It is disgusting.

If you ever meet someone who says the phrase, "undocumented citizen", you are dealing with a low-down lousy mojado lover. I recommend deporting any of these mental derelicts as well [pick a country, anywhere but here].
---
Mexicans are not the only people who try and sneak through our unguarded borders, Muslims [aka terrorists] do as well, from a bevy of Islamic hellholes oceans away. One more concrete reason to land-mine our unguarded borders. I support land-mining Canada's border as well because of this fact.
