With regard to Obama's sudden heat on Israel for what's more or less a zoning dispute, this writer suggests that Obama is doing a 'wag-the-dog' stunt, to take heat off the health care fiasco.
It's an interesting take, posted for your consideration below. I'm inclined to politely disagree. I subscribe to the Dennis Prager philosophy: Liberals talk incessantly about change, but deep down they believe that everything will be the same. For instance, the liberal refuses to recognize that initiative is stunted by rewarding failure (public handouts) and punishing success (taxation), although the thinking person knows this as a reality. That's just one example among many.
In this case, using the Prager philosophy, my guess is that Obama refuses to believe that Israel could lose a war, whereas Israel could indeed be indeed be pushed into the Mediterranean.
Anyway, here's that wag-the-dog column:

I would not refer to this as a 'zoning dispute'. It is an antisemitic act to forbid Jews from building in their own land while non-Jews can build whereever they want {often illegally}. It has nothing to do with zoning and everything to do with preventing Jewish growth in Jewish cities.
I do agree that it is a way of deflecting attention on his many domestic failures and look like a big man in the eyes of his antisemitic constituents {and the self-hating liberal Jews}.

That list makes me nauseated. It is a shame that so many of our people decide to become self-hating. I hope that they are prepared for the antisemitism which occurs whether or not Jews have a homeland which they can live in.

I know you guys hate him, but savage said the same thing. Obama has seen his polls sink with each passing weak of the health care disaster, and now he wants people to see what a tough statesman he is by bullying our only ally in the area.

Allow me to clarify my own words about 'zoning dispute'.
I'm not looking to trivialize the reaction of the Israelis to this intrusion. This question of who should be allowed to build what is a matter to be settled strictly by local authorities, ala a zoning dispute. And now, Obama, et al, have foolishly raised this to an international incident.
As I think about it, that figures, because Obama wants to control the lives of American citizens also.

Within Israel it should be a zoning decision. Once you have agreed that Jews can build homes within the Land of Israel the only issue is where and when which is what zoning boards decide. In other words Obama should have no say in it, maybe he can explain the sleazy details of the building of his own home with Rezsko's help.

A zoning dispute would be whether or not a Jew can build a building which violates zoning laws, such as the height of the building, whether it meets construction codes, etc... The issue of whether Jews can build has nothing to do with zoning... It has to do with preventing Jewish growth.
