Insanity has apparently become mainstream. In a normal society the loony hatch would send the guys in the white coats with a net to throw over her and take her to the asylum to be committed.

To re-interate: Crazy people belong in an asylum getting treatment until they are sane and normal. To leave them out there like that untreated, to continue living deranged lives is irresponsible, dangerous, and cruel.

Any benefits that may theoretically come with it mean nothing in comparison. Also, what a terrible example she's setting for her child!

At the least, in a normal society she wouldn't get publicity for what she's trying to do. What would be the point of doing it if no one knew about it and no one cared?

I think it might be a form of Munchausen syndrome. She wants to make herself disabled in order to get the attention and care that would come with that status.
