I think it's official. The GOP has an Affirmative Action Chairman:

Michael Steele should have been tossed out his position early last year. Of course he never should have been appointed RNC Chairman in the first place. Any doubt about Steele should have been erased over a year ago. Steele is holding the Republican Party back, in a year that the Republicans ABSOLUTELY must make substantial gains in the House and Senate.

Yeah, leave the future of this country in the hands of the Republicans. After all, they've done such a great job in the recent past.

Granted, the Republicans dropped the ball on a number of key issues in the last decade. Yet, there's no comparison between the two parties. The " Democrat" Party is on a fast and direct course to turn the United States into a 3rd World Majority Socialist nation. The Democrat Party ( there's nothing Democratic about this hideous entity ) should be opposed across the board. Any Democrat who is disturbed by how far left the party has gone and combined how corrupt the Democrat Party is, should leave the party ASAP.

It really is a shame, because he could have gone far with leading the GOP and they could never call him a racist when he attacked the left. But then again, they would have called him an "Uncle Tom" I'm sure of that.
The GOP really has left us, but if we fight hard enough and keep on them, we can bring them back to reality. We have NO other choice!
HiWarp, WHO do you suggest we vote for to run this country? If we vote for anything OTHER than Dems or Reps, I feel our votes are wasted and only gives more strength to the Dems. Don't you also see it this way?

I suggest that in the coming election we vote for as many conservative Republicans as possible to stop the current hemorrhaging. But, if the Republican party continues to put up liberal candidates (RINOs) or goes back to the spending and pandering that it has engaged in in the past, I suggest that people look to independent or third party candidates whose ideology resembles theirs. Don't you see that if 1 million people said "screw the Democrats and Republicans I'm voting for the conservative independent" the votes would not be wasted.
Another issue is voters that are dissatisfied with a Republican candidate and decide not to vote at all. If the same people were to vote for a conservative third party candidate and that candidate got 10,15,20% of the votes that would have gone to a conservative Republican, don't you think that would make the Republican party stand up and notice? To me, a result of 50% Democrat, 49% Republican, 1% Other with a 40-50% voter turnout is much different than 48% Democrat, 39% Republican, 13% Conservative Independent with an 80%+ voter turnout. If I were a Republican strategist and saw the latter results, my immediate reaction would be "if we had run a true conservative candidate we could have gotten over 50% and won.
Arguably it is a long and painful process to get there but I do not see how voting for one of two parties that consistently grow the federal government, albeit at different rates, is beneficial to the country in the long term. At the end of the day, until this country becomes a tyrannical dictatorship, the fault lies not with the politicians but with the people that elect them. Unfortunately as the federal government and entitlement programs continue to grow and a larger percentage of people receive from the government than are forced to give, the hope of any significant change will fade even faster.

I agree HiWarp, I think alot of people, including myself are disgusted with having to vote for "the lesser of 2 evils" and it has been that way for far too long. I plan to vote for ONLY conservative Reps, always have, always will. I bet if things don't go well this November, we just might see the Tea Party become a party to reckon with and people will vote for them.
