Haaretz publisher Amos Shocken said Monday, "The Haaretz newspaper demands now too that the Shabak [Israel Security Agency] fulfil its original agreement with the newspaper's reporter Uri Blau and promise not to prosecute him" in connection with his use of classified material received from Anat Kam when she left the Israel Defense Forces.
Speaking at a gathering on media-legal relations at the Netanya Academic College, Shocken said if journalists feared receiving secret information for fear of prosecution, it would destroy the possibility of their reporting on failures in the establishment, including the military. He said that he did not know when Blau would return to Israel, adding that the matter depended on Blau and any arrangement reached by Blau and the Shabak.

Ha'Aretz should be called, Ha'Hamas. Of course they should try Uri Blau, regardless of what "promises" were made. Let this be a lesson to all traitors.
