Title: Best Friend is anti-zionist what now?
Post by: BritishSword on February 10, 2011, 09:43:30 AM
Well that was NOT the best morning ever.
So I finally got in touch with an old friend who I have'nt seen for a while.
I got to telling him about all the stuff thats being going on.
He was surprisingly stubborn about Islam, saying christianity had been just as bad etc etc. The discussion got rather heated.
It didn't surprise me too much as he is agnostic and they tend to do this, lump all religions in the same category.
But the shocker of course was he actually told me is somewhat anti-zionist.
Just dropped it into the conversation.
Like it was socially acceptable or something.

Now I don't know what to do.
I'm not sure I can really be friends with him.
I mean hes a great guy mostly. But its like a member of the french resistance being friends with an occupying stormtrooper. It wouldn't work.

Do I just ditch him. Write him a note.
Try and make him see sense?
Comments anyone?

I think he's beyond help.  When they pull that 'other religions are just as bad' crap, they may be too far gone.  If he is younger, there may still be hope, if he is a leftist, he may grow out of it.

Yeah,

Thats too bad.
I'll have to give it to him straight next time I see him.

Tell him to get real and get with the movement or I will be severing contact with him.

Many who label themselves as anti-Zionists are in fact anti-Semites. Except if he is an anarchist who dislikes ALL States, and so is anti-Zionist because Zionism gave independence to one State, there is not much hope. And if he hates religions and would support forbidding Judaism if he had the chance, Chas Veshalom, he is really a bad person.
I have met many people on the web who define themselves as anti-Zionist or just critical of Israeli Govt. and then they come out saying that what they hate is Jewish Law, Shabbat, Kashrut and so on. Better keep away from that people.

I'd meet with him and talk openly. The comparison between French resistance and collaborators is not completely accurate, UK is not there quite YET. However, as you go through life, you loose a lot of old "friends". If, by the time you are 40 you have one friend left, consider yourself lucky.

i have to disagree with that. i remember how a few years ago all the atheists on the internet use to put all religions in the same category. now more and more of them see Christianity as an area of philosophical disagreement while seeing Islam as a mortal threat. it is definitely possible to shatter the illusion that all religions are equal

Well that was NOT the best morning ever.....[snip]
If you have to ask what to do about him, then you already know.  You don't have to ask this question of your other friends.  How can you be friends with someone who believes that Jews have no right to Israel?  I would be very suspicious of this person's thinking and I certainly wouldn't want to spend any time with him.  Besides, you've gone a long time without him.  Keep it that way.  And he wants to lump in Judaism with Islam??  Puh-leez!!

That's my comment and that's what I think.... and you did ask.

British Sword, are you still a "proud member of the BNP" ? cause if you are then really you shouldn't have any problems befriending Jew-haters.

That question answers itself Zelhar and your sarcasm is NOT appreciated.

I asked with no sarcasm cause I honestly want to know. I believe You wrote in your introduction post that you're a proud member of the BNP.

Those of us who truly support Israel in our hearts should find friends who are not Anti-Zion, and Anti-semetic.  God will not forgive traitors!

No offense, BritishSword. But The BNP isn't exactly buddy-buddy with the Jews.

I would cut off contact from him, no need to affiliate with people like that. I was friends with many people in high school who later I found out what their true colors were and do not talk to them because of that.

Thankyou Wandering Samurai, I believe that is a fairly accurate description. They support the right of britain to be british, china to be chinese etc etc.
The problem is they believe in the Palestine myth. I believed in it till I was re-educated by this site. So currently if they were in office they would encourage the two state solution, which I know to everyone here is unacceptable.

Well, I agree with a lot of the sentiments posted here if not some of the conclusions. I really don't think he is anti-semitic per se as he is definitely isn't racist, but that is part of the problem, too much everyone is equal and the same by far. Can't convince him about Obama at all.
He recently emailed me asking me if I'm the same person.
I don't think this is going to work out, I'll tell him to go away, read the O.T and quran side by side and see if he still thinks they are similar. If he does then he's obviously smoking something illegal.
