Honestly if he's going to do something like that it's better if he waits until after the primaries are over and he doesn't get the nomination, or if he does get the nomination to wait until after he's either president or loses the presidential election. You know what the right wing media would say if Santorum was linked to a "terrorism supporting hate group" like they would try to portray JTF (of course we're not that at all, but the mass media would trust the ADL and SPLC over our word).

The reality is this. Right wing conservatives need to be smarter than Santorum. I admire him for his outspokenness on things that most Americans find to be normal and possibly soothing. Except, at drastic times like now where we need to remove Obama from office, I would prefer the guy running against him be acceptable to the masses...AND THEN later on discuss banning things which are bad for us, such as hardcore porn.

Yes it should be up for the individual and kept away from public view or intervention. Just like you shouldn't intervene in what or who a person is doing within the confines of his home.

While I don't advocate that anyone engage in it, I would favor legalized prostitution and gambling. If both parties are truly willing it is a victimless crime.

Before you generalize us, you will notice that only a couple of the members here believe porn should not be legal. We don't all share the same opinions about everything.

I do not want porn to be illegal. I think it has a good effect in that many sexually repressed individuals watch it and if they did not have it, they would be rapists, molesters, purveyors of prostitution, etc. Of course, I don't mean child porn or beastiality. I don't mind homo-porn if that's your thing because it is a release valve, also. and would ward off abuse. Of course, I mean CONSULTING ADULT, and NOT sado-masochistic porn, etc. It would be nice to have porn legal and nobody watch it and have it go out of business because nobody gave a damn about it.

Noachide, I hope your not embarrassed! And I have no right to criticize anyone, beings I was associated with some pretty bad stuff when I was younger and I even hung out in strip clubs. But you have accepted Hashem as your G-d, and this type of thing only slows your progress. Plus I believe it would be against one of the Noachide laws.

I think a human being DOES have the ability to control his/her impulses. But the idea that a government should do it for us is scarey and borderline fascist.
A government is there to protect our rights from being infringed, not for telling us what we should do in the privacy of our home. If someone behaves immorally... assuming that act doesnt infringe upon someone else's rights... that person will be judged elsewhere, not from the government.

Porn is not the answer! These people {rapists, molesters}who do these evil acts should be locked up forever with their genitals removed, or fried!

I agree that at this time it would be wrong to allow a 'democratically elected' government impose moral laws. But I stand against the pornography industry {which is what it is} which has no concern for the damage it does to the spiritual strength of the people. I myself have had problems with this in the past and know that it is bad for the soul. Many people struggle for many years with this and it would be best if the temptation was removed.
I have cut out much of this kind of input by avoiding watching television... I am currently entertaining myself by watching old clips of 60s-70s television {such as Get Smart and Mork and Mindy} which seem so pure to me compared to the programming which is pushed today...

I agree with Briann mostly. Though I would like to see the creation of homeowners associations which have covenants based upon the consensus of the residents that restrict the behavior of those who choose to live there. Among the laws in the covenant could be anti-pornography laws. The homeowners association would provide enough value to people who would normally view pornography that they would choose to live there despite having to give up porn to do so, thus saving weak souls by appealing to their other desires. This would be much better than having a government which claims half the continent pass a set of restrictive one-size-fits-all laws for 300 million people or having a state government restrict the behavior of millions of people, etc.

Huge concern is explicit content has risen in this modern time as I look back from the 80s. Children are easily capable obtaining these immoral media from hollywood movies. For the sake of the future, children should not endure it.

Where does the list of medically treated social disorders end? :::D People should be able to come into contact with things like porn or prostitution and not let it get the best of them... Years back there was always a large amount of magazines and pin up pictures laying around the place where I worked... People would look through them now and then when they had free time and toss them back where they were... Why do people make such a big deal out of stuff like this... The people who go out and rape other adults or molest children did not get the idea to do stuff like that from looking at porn...

It's one thing for a religious based organization like JTF to hold the opinion that porn should be made illegal however its political cancer for someone running for president to spout off opinion like that... Personally I don't want the government regulating everything under the sun and whats more a good part of the American people don't want it either... Where do laws and policy like this start and end... In the past few weeks Santorum has made some large scale political blunders that make him totally unelectable in the general election... Most mainstream conservatives do not want a presidential candidate that favors nanny state policies... America has a diverse population who's people have a wide range of acceptance of what's right and wrong... While a good part of the population will always agree that some thing's are just plain unacceptable a vast majority will pick and choose from the list of lesser vises... A presidential candidate who takes a hard line approach to social issues may win a battle or two but in the end loose the war...
