A Philadelphia high schooler says she was humiliated after her teacher told her to lose her Gov. Mitt Romney T-shirt comparing it to “wearing a KKK shirt.”
Samantha Pawlucy, a 16-year-old sophomore at Charles Carroll High School in the Port Richmond section of the city, says she wore a pink Mitt Romney/Paul Ryan T-shirt last Friday during the school's dress down day.
No one made an issue of Samantha’s political T-shirt until she got to geometry class.
"The teacher told me to get out of the classroom, I said no," Samantha said.
"She told me to take off my shirt and said that she has another one if I need one. And then the teacher asked me… 'are your parents Republican?' I said, 'I don't know.' She said that's like her wearing a KKK shirt."
Samantha was so embarrassed by the public criticism in front of her classmates that she told her parents she didn’t want to return to school.
"I didn't know what to think, I didn't think it was right at all."
They requested a meeting with the principal and the teacher. The teacher apologized to Samantha and her parents saying that the statement was meant as a joke.
"It was funny to her but I was really embarrassed," Samantha said.
"If it was a joke between two adults, I can take a joke like that but (Sam) didn't know how to take it, she doesn’t understand, she actually thinks she did something wrong," father Richard Pawlucy said.
"I can just picture her sitting there feeling ashamed for just wearing a T-shirt," said her mother Christine Pawlucy. "That someone could spin that and throw it back on a 16-year-old child and make her feel so terrible."
A spokesperson for the Philadelphia School District tells NBC10 the teacher was transferred to another classroom as the district investigates the incident.

Oh sure. I was just kidding, you know, just a joke. Please don't get me into trouble.
I wonder who this "geometry teacher" is...

The 'teacher' aught to be fired on the spot for engaging in political indoctrination on the job. Any teacher who ridicules a student for his/her particular political beliefs should be kept far - far away from students.
It is a shame that Americas schools have become liberal cesspools of waste.

It doesn't even look like a 'KKK' shirt.

Wow. I thought I saw it all.

Its an obama robot, and they are trying to say that the republican. Party is equivalent to the KKK! And in front of a class full of young impressionable students. Unbelievable irresponsibility

Maybe the student should've told the teacher that she doesn't hang out wth the boys in da hood.

To me, what's very sad about this is that we're hiring teachers who, if they can make such a comparison, are exhibiting less intelligence than a tree stump. Imagine what nonsense they're saying in class to very impressionable and non-discerning young minds.

You know what? While watching last nights debate the thought crossed my mind that when Obama stated that he wanted to hire umpteen-thousand teachers I figured he would only hire Obama-Robot teachers who would specialize in liberal indoctrination of the youth.
Personally I think all those who engage in this kind of liberal indoctrination should be publicly tarred and feathered and ostracized. What they are doing goes 100% against the intention of the founding fathers, and the core principles of democracy. The public school should not be the place where students are taught that one party is good, and the other is bad. This results in faulty reasoning, and a mockery of the democratic principles of this country.
