Title: Real Black History Month Question
Post by: Rubystars on February 04, 2013, 09:16:32 AM
Ok so imagine that you're back in school and you're assigned to write an essay about black history month. Obviously if you write something that disparages one of the liberal's heroes, like telling the truth about MLK being a prostitute-loving communist, it's going to get you an F at best and suspended/expelled at worst. On the other hand, as a right winger/conservative/non-lefty label of your choice, you don't want to pander to the communist ideas either.

A middle-of-the-road approach would be finding a black person in history who truly did something good for the world or made a contribution to society, who wasn't falsely claiming to have invented something, or secretly a communist.

Who would you pick to write the essay about and why?

I might try to write satire or take the black worshiping to absurd. You can argue that there should be a black history year, and that MLK should have a whole month to celebrate him. And he should have a statue so huge that all the other presidents and the Washington monument would be under its shadow. And also make it swing so it would always point at the sun.

If you make the satire too obvious though, they wouldn't be fooled by it at all and would be very upset with you. You would have to write it in such a way that sounded sincere.  :::D

Good for them! I was thinking more in line of a classroom with a lefty teacher though.

Why not make it about Clarence Thomas or Dr. Sowell?

Do one about Alan Keyes and Allen West and make a rather interesting paper of how they aren't mainstream, but that their view points are sane like JTF and Kahanists are sane.  It will open up a good debate and discussion assuming you're not dealing with hardcore liberals.

"Waiting for the Mother Plane to Come" and Dr. Dan had some good suggestions.

One of the reasons I opened this thread is that we have a lot of people lurking this forum, some of whom may be students who will get such an assignment this month.

What if the teacher wanted you to write about someone who was already dead?

Wow...... ha ha...... those were the first two that popped into my head, and in that order!

I would also like to add Col. Alan West and Allen Keys...... and Al Jolson

I think if you wrote about Al Jolson you'd get an F in the class but I think you get an A for comedy  :::D

Why? Are you implying that he wasn't a REAL black person?

How dare you!!

Now that could open up a debate on what a real black person is. Is it someone who self-identifies as black (are wiggers considered to be black?)? Is it necessarily someone with black/African ancestry?

If a teacher assigns "African American History Month" essays, is it ok to write about white South African immigrants, or non-black North African immigrants? I would guess not! Get ready for an F and a suspension if you try to pull that one. lol

Is it someone who looks black? (In that case, a made-up Al Jolson would qualify). Someone who claims to be black?

Seriously kids reading this thread don't ask any of these questions of your teachers unless you really want to get yourself into trouble. lol

By the way... I just saw the original Jazz Singer the other night.....  very good for being the first attempt at a sound movie... and it actually had a pretty good story.

Also... I saw a great movie called...  Swing Time..

I would write about Frederick Douglass. He went from slave to someone who overcame obstacles. Even as a slave, he learned to read and write- which was forbidden back then. He fled and was a firm anti-abolitionist and also a supporter of women being able to vote.

Or I would write about Alexandre Dumas, the author of the Count of Montecristo and the Three Musketeers but he was French. His mother was black.

Great suggestions IsraeliHeart. I'm sure that might help some people if they are wondering what to do for these kinds of assignments and feel lost.

For a deceased figure, how about Wallace Fard? Oh, wait a minute, he wasn't actually black.

I'd write about Dr. Thomas Sowell! An incredibly intelligent conservative thinker. Or colonel Allen West

Also, Alexandre Dumas paternal grandmother was a black slave, his mother was French. So, Dumas was 1/4 black, I don't know if that would disqualify from being mentioned during the Black History Month.

I would write an essay about Liberia and how when the American black slaves who were freed and left for Africa and enslaved the native blacks using the same technics they had experienced themselves.

I love Dr. Manning..... I always crack up when I see the picture of oBumma behind the wheel of that bus running over his grandmother....

and this...."I suspect she (white grandmother) recoiled away from black men even after her dealings with her black black son-in-law, and even her black grandson..... if that wouldn't cause her to recoil away from black men, I don't know what would".... not exact quote but close.
