A Border Guard policeman was sentenced by the Haifa District Court to 16 years in prison Sunday for raping and sodomizing a 70-year-old woman last year.
 

According to the indictment, the policeman, Ahmed Hindawi, 23, was involved in an accident about an hour before raping his victim. After  Advertisement   
 
   
 
colliding into another vehicle he got out of his car, presented the passengers of the other vehicle with a police badge, and later threatened them and fired shots in the air.
 

Hindawi then continued driving, until he noticed a woman walking on the sidewalk. The defendant pulled up next to the woman, pushed her to a ditch near the road and raped and sodomized her, leaving the elderly woman bruised and battered on the side of the road.
 

Hindawi was arrested shortly after the rape, and admitted to the charges during his questioning.
 

The prosecutor in the trial, attorney Efrat Scheinman-Greenboim, demanded a harsh sentence for the defendant due to the severity of the "appalling crime," saying that he posed a "danger to society."
 

In the sentence, the judges wrote that the defendants' actions constituted the most severe form of sex offenses. "The defendant assaulted a woman while she was innocently walking down the street and brutally hurt her, trampling on her self-confidence, her dignity and her health. The defendant hunted down a weak victim, an elderly woman of 70, who did not have the strength to resist him."
 

The judges added that the complainant was a Holocaust survivor "who managed to recover and build a family, until her world once again collapsed when the defendant committed these dreadful acts."

What an animal.  This sort of crime deserves the death penalty in my opinion.
