Oh great, the woman who was shot for ramming her SUV into the capital was from the hometown I grew up in, Stamford, CT...

The female driver who tried to ram the gate of the White House with her car Thursday and was shot dead by police has been identified as 34-year-old Miriam Carey of Stamford, Connecticut.

D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier confirmed earlier on Thursday that Carey was shot and later pronounced dead.

A young child in the car with Carey appeared to be uninjured, Lanier said.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation dispatched units to the Capitol, following reports of shots fired near Garfield Circle. There are reports that one or more officers are injured.

NBC news has reported that a 34-year-old dental hygenist known as Miriam Carey is dead after ramming barricades outside the White House today. Secret Service shot Carey after she ran over an officer.

She was traveling with a little girl who was unharmed. Carey is reportedly from Connecticut and the incident is believed to be isolated with no relation to terrorism.

Carey was unarmed.

But in this case it doesn't matter, she was probably on meds. It is reported that she was nuts.
