Seriously.... Don't scientists have something better to do with their time than make such outrageous statements.
I have been addicted to drugs... I know how hard it is to quit. I have eaten Oreo cookies, and I can tell you that I have NEVER once become addicted to Oreo cookies. Whatever 'study' was done to come to these conclusions must be wrong, or the climate scientists have invaded the space of the oreo cookie scientists (both are using completely meshuga/crazy datasets)....
Un Freaking Believable...
http://www.conncoll.edu/news/news-archive/2013/student-faculty-research-shows-oreos-are-just-as-addictive-as-drugs-in-lab-rats-.htm
Connecticut College students and a professor of psychology have found “America’s favorite cookie” is just as addictive as cocaine – at least for lab rats. And just like most humans, rats go for the middle first.
In a study designed to shed light on the potential addictiveness of high-fat/ high-sugar foods, Joseph Schroeder, associate professor of psychology and director of the behavioral neuroscience program, and his students found rats formed an equally strong association between the pleasurable effects of eating Oreos and a specific environment as they did between cocaine or morphine and a specific environment. They also found that eating cookies activated more neurons in the brain’s “pleasure center” than exposure to drugs of abuse.
“Our research supports the theory that high-fat/ high-sugar foods stimulate the brain in the same way that drugs do,” Schroeder said. “It may explain why some people can’t resist these foods despite the fact that they know they are bad for them.”
Maybe these 'scientists' ought to put a bunch of pot and a bunch of doritos in a rat cage and watch these rats get stoned and eat a bag of doritos...

I think there are specific junk food and beverages that can be addictive to some people. I don't know if this research is legit but the topic of addictiveness property of unhealthy food is a legitimate subject to research. Let me state it another way, these big food corporations that sell you the junk certainly do their research because they want to make their products addictive.

The favorite cookie of my youth was the 'Mallomar' cookie.
We loved it so much we named my fathers 26 foot sailboat the 'Mallomar' and his second boat 'Mallomar 2'...

Here is an image of a photograph of me (at about 10 years old) sailing my fathers boat:
