Granted the number is eight, but why did they stay there all these years?

Isn't the Reverend in just as much danger?

They're probably just as crazy as the Jews of Iran.

As the article mentioned, they've seen what the Israeli Bolsheviks have done to the Jews' Jewishness. In this respect, their fears are well founded. However, to refuse to leave a place with a clear and present danger is probably against Jewish law. In fact, the danger of that G-d-forsaken region is why the last rabbi there left a couple of months ago.

I hope that Chabad and rest of the Jewish presence in the US military has visited these poor souls. May G-d watch over them.

The Jewishness of Jews was being destroyed from the eariest days of the state. Meir Kahane told of the sephardic youth having their peyott cut off and being 'ashkenazised'. He said they had their Jewishness 'torn out' under ben Gurion.

My dad spent 3 years in Iraq as a government police contractor and met with many Jews while there. He said most are simply too old to leave although they are by no means anti-Israel or anti-America to the extent their neighboring Iraqis are.
