Personally I cannot stand alcohol. Some may think I sound like a muslim (G-d forbid) in my hatred of alcohol. In my younger days (high-school - college) I did drink quite a lot. I attended one of the top ten 'Drinking Colleges' in the 80s... But for almost 18 years now I do not drink any alcohol except for Kiddush wine (on Shabbat and Yom Tov) and an occasional shot of vodka with my friends from my minyan.
But I do drink when the tradition calls for it. I will drink the four cups on Pesach, and usually I'll drink 2-3 shots of vodka on Purim.... This is not enough to make me 'drunk' but it does satisfy the halachic obligation of Purim...
