Title: Donation problem
Post by: kahaneloyalist on March 19, 2014, 05:55:55 PM
I went to the donation page on the http://jtf.org/ (http://jtf.org/) home page and this is where I was redirected to https://www.wepay.com/donations/38890 (https://www.wepay.com/donations/38890)

I know we can still mail in donations until the website is fixed.

Chaim talked about it in Ask JTF. I think he said people can donate on and through Hayamin.ORG instead (don't remember if I remember correctly though).

As I mentioned on this week's Ask JTF, the company that was allowing us to take donations on our English main page has decided to get out of that business for some reason.

So all donations online now can only be made on our Hebrew main page where there is a "Donate" button on top.

... Why isn't that same button linked on the English page for now?

I think Pay Pal has special rules only for JTF just like QPTV had special rules only for JTF.

Man, that's disappointing.  I wonder why they quit that, seemed like an easy revenue stream for them.

So do we now have no way to donate to JTF and can only donate to VJA?

QPTV didn't let JTF ask for money on the air.

PayPal didn't like the content of JTF or JTF.ORG. They would only allow donations to VJA if not linked from JTF.ORG. That's why Chaim linked it from hayamin.org.

Please read there.  I don't know what api is or what they're talking about with that but maybe we can incorporate their api into jtf webpage.  Otherwise, it sounds like EverRibbon is recommended as most similar to the wepay donate button.

So link the English page to the Hebrew page and say "visit this page to donate."

There used to be a popup on the English page that said that. If someone clicked on it, a new window would display a message saying what you said.

Paypal told us the Hebrew main page is fine with them after they got it translated by Israelis who work for them.

But they don't want a link on the English main page. Apparently their rules are stricter for English-language sites for some reason. Why? I have no idea.

I guess they figured that English speakers especially liberals are more sensitive & more likely to demand something be censored.
But they do more censoring here so go figure.
