Title: Question for Chaim or whoever is knowedgable about Israeli politics
Post by: Israel Chai on April 11, 2014, 07:34:56 AM
What does Naftali stand to gain from saying he'll leave the Likud now? Is he really not planning on doing that, and just showing that there's already protests against national suicide, so no need for citizens to join in, does he think he'll get more votes and power this way, or is he actually trying to do what's right? I don't know how to translate his political rain-dancing into English, which I'm usually okay at.

As a potential Moshiach, Bennett has some inviolable core beliefs.

His party is the only one that would increase its number of seats if elections were held today

No we're not.

Yes we are. Kind Dawidh had many descendants + the way that genetics work. We have the genes of many of these people including King Dawidh because he had many children, and then the children had other children that married other people's children and those children married other people and on and on. For sure we would have along the family tree somewhere from the descent of King Dawidh and even through King Shlomo as well).
I heard Rabbi Bechhofer say it.

That makes sense I guess, but wouldn't it only be passed down from the father? If you had a goy as a father along the way, then you can't be.

It is not enough that King David was one of your ancestors to be eligible to be mashiach ben david.
Assuming he has all the other qualities needed to be mashiach, the person needs to have a direct line of descent through his father. That is to say he has to be  the son of the son of the son of the son etc. going all the way back to King David.

Regarding Bennett, even if he had the proper lineage, I do not believe (in contrast to the opinion of Yerusha) that he is mashiach and I do not even plan to vote for him, bli neder.

It passes down like being a Kohen passes down. There is a Kohen Y Chromosone. There should be a Davidic Line Y Chromosone as well.

It's not DNA, a goy could have that. It's by the father, I think. We could check the Rebbe's genes though. Lol.

Yes. The Mashiach has that Y Chromosone but also has to be Jewish through his mother.

In the past Hashem has at times had to choose lower grade individuals to lead Am Yisrael, solely because there is no one else.

Bennett is the only one  in Israel of any influence who is saying the right things! http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/179594#.U0rQXJuKDn4

Therefore Hashem may yet choose Bennett as "the potential Moshiach" - referred to by the Rambam in Hilchos Melochim as having the status of the חזקת משיח of this generation!

About the descent (I didn't check the source) but I got this response

Yosef Gavriel Bechhofer-  "Rashi in Chumash on the bracha to Shevet Dan in Vayechi"

Very Interesting....Good Question for Chaim.  How would that help the cause for the true Jews in Israel to increase those seats?

There are people much more qualified than Bennett to be Mashiach, which God could raise up if it was the proper time.  But the fact that there are still frauds like Bennett and Netanyahu in government proves that the Jews just don't want to be redeemed yet.
I agree Dan.
I know it's not me because I am a Levi & it isn't either of my sons.
It came be Charlie Buttons for the same reason.
Maybe it's Zalman HaShikor (the Crown Heights neighborhood drunk)?
Truth is nobody will know who it is until he arrives & accomplishes all that he has to accomplish.
