I've gotta go with the Exorcist too.

Watching Linda Blair's head spin like a top and projectile vomit green pea soup was pretty scary.

The newly released footage of her doing the upside down spider walk down the flight of stairs is a blast too !

Half a bottle of Hose Cuervo and 8 Bud's with a lasagne and I can top Linda Blair.

I don't watch much T.V. but as a kid I remember:

1. "A Nightmare on Elm Street" (especially the 1st one and the last).

2. "The Silence of the Lambs".

I don't like horror movies at all.

Personally, anything that generates fear, unless it is a healthy fear of punishment for wrongs committed, is frankly something I see no need for.

Now...enjoying suspense is something else entirely. But enjoying genuinely being afraid? I think there is something mentally wrong with that. It's like emotional masochism.

Nothing better than a Stephen King movie such as The Shining, Christine, Carrie, The Langoliers and many others movies that keep you on the edge of your seat.

I remember watching the old horror shows on Creature Features  and Chiller Theater  . They seemed better watching them back then. The Fly, THEM, and The Invasion Of The Body Snatchers were all great. Young Frankenstein should be watched with a few doses of adult beverages to really get you laughing.

You make Movies, don't you?

Its an unrealistic fear combined with suspense. I don't think it can be classified as fear that should be felt during a punishment.

Night of the Living Dead....I have a thing for zombie movies ;)

Same here. I love zombie movies. After watching the two Dawn of the Deads which I really loved, I watched night of the living dead. The problem with the original night of the living dead is that it was a movie about how racist white people are. George Romero also had a white racist police officer shooting up "innocent" beasts in a housing project in the first Dawn of the Dead.

I love horror movies. By far my favorite is The Exorsist. It still scares me as much as it did when I was a kid.

The Exorcist still freaks me out too. I saw it when I was about 10 years old. There is a part when Regan (the devil) speaks to the young priest in Greek mimicking his mother. I remember thinking back then "Oh no, the devil is Greek!" It traumatized me for quite a while.

Is that what most Greeks own in Australia? Where I grew up (NYC) it was diners. And yes, my family owned a diner at one time.

Yeah...traditionally Greeks in Australia had the fruiterers, delis and milk bars (take away shops).

Now days, young greeks want nothing to do with their parent's businesses and have good jobs in the professions like the rest of us.

Yeah, the same thing is happening in the US. The parents or grandparents ran some sort of food shop and now the kids are becoming lawyers, doctors, stockbrokers or computer specialists. Except me that is, I'm just a lowly staffer at a school district.

I'd love to visit Australia some day. I actually have relatives there that I've never met. In Melbourne I believe. Isn't that where most of the Greek population is?

The Sacred Band of Thebes (ancient Greek: Ιερός Λόχος τών Θηβών) was a troop of picked soldiers, numbering 150 homosexual couples, which formed the elite force of the Theban army in the 4th century BC.[1] An example of common practice in the ancient world, it was organized by the Theban commander Gorgidas in 378 BC, played a crucial role in the Battle of Leuctra, and was completely annihilated in the Battle of Chaeronea in 338 BC.

Biggest Greek city besides Athens is Melbourne.

In the fifties, greeks and italians were called 'wogs' and dagoes, but now.........they're as Aussie as all of us anglos. Nobody thinks of a Con or Mario as a foreigner. When the anti-muslim butt kicking happened in Sydney, the greek and italian kids were all shoulder to shoulder with the anglo/celtic aussies.

The greeks and ities did very well here because they came, saw how great it was, loved it and worked their bums off to build a good life with big houses and good education for their kids.

The stinkung arabs have a 65+% unemployment rate and they HATE the country and us. You can see the difference in attitude.

Quote:"Its nice to hear that they are becoming a productive part of Australian society. They definitely do not (or should not) have any love for the muslims."

There's no "becoming".....the greeks and italians were productive the second they stepped off the boats. There was no welfare or public housing for them. They went straight to work on the farms, factories and construction sights AND learnt our language. Australia is a better place because of them.

Can't say the same for arab / muslim filth who will destroy this country.

BTW: Greek food is to die for. Nobody does lamb like the Greeks! :P

My favorite horror movie of all time is The Sixth Sense. It's extremely well done and still has the most shocking surprise ending. The movie is over eight years old now. Yet I still consider it a great sin to reveal the secret of this movie to anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

Jason vs. Freddie is another good one. You don't need to be familiar with either series to follow this movie since a background is provided for each one. Their backgrounds and vulnerabilities play into each other very well and make perfect sense.

The Evil Dead is the one movie that scared me so much, I had to turn it off because I was getting so short of breath. I still have yet to see the whole thing. Perhaps I'll need a tranquilizer and an oxygen mask to make it though this one ;)

I just saw Invasion which is sort of a pseudo-remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. That was terrifying and extremely well done. Kidman does a great job in this role playing someone who has to hide her emotion, yet you can still see the emotions. There was one bit of comic relief where in the background, the TV news was talking about how President Bush and President of Iraq Al Sadr made a peace agreement. My friend and I did a double take and then cracked up laughing. Actually, come to think of it, that was the scariest part of the movie :)

There's going to be a new Halloween movie coming out.  It's going to be a prequel to the very first one.  I believe that the first movie was the first of the so-called slasher films.

I quite like the modern slasher movies. Something about seeing todays idiot teenagers getting butchered brightens up my whole day. :)

Nightmare on Elm Street should have been cast with Rosa Parks instead of Robert Englund.

Keep up the funny lines, Newman.  You're funnier than the one on Seinfeld.

The space ship thing is actually positive. It'll give the neo-nazi, black helicopter conspiracy, whack jobs something else to look out for.

By no means is this my "favorite" horror film, but it is certainly the most horrific horror film ever made and one that is important to watch, one that our Palestinian and antisemetic apologetics try to make believe doesn't exist.

Come to think of it, one of the scariest things I've ever seen was a documentary I saw on Netflix a few days ago called "Maxed Out"! Now, it's not a horror film, but certainly was extremely scary and terrifying since this is something that effects all of us (or has the potential to). It shows how easy it is to get into such massive extreme debt, how it ruins your credit, and makes it completely difficult to ever get out of a mess like this. You can't count on the government to help you out since they're the biggest debt offenders and they're the ones that enable the credit companies to get away with what they do by passing legislation bills that are literally written by the banks.
