http://www.redressonline.com/2014/07/britains-largest-supermarket-chain-tesco-boycotts-products-from-occupied-west-bank/
Britain’s biggest supermarket chain, Tesco, will will no longer sell products originating from the Israeli-occupied West Bank starting September 2014, the Jewish Chronicle reports.
Meanwhile two health and beauty product suppliers told the Jewish Chronicle that Tesco had asked them to list all their products and ingredients originating in the occupied territories.
A Tesco spokesman indirectly confirmed that the move was testimony to the success of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement (BDS), saying:
We have received some questions from customers about products we sell that are sourced from Israel or the West Bank.
To make sure we answered their questions with the most accurate and up to date information, we contacted suppliers to double check our own information, particularly for branded products.
Lamenting Tesco’s decision, the ultar-right-wing Israeli news website Arutz Sheva 7 recalled that Tesco’s decision comes just a few weeks after Britain’s largest trade union, Unite, voted unanimously to boycott Israeli companies.
It further lamented that in May the European Union banned the import of poultry and eggs from Jewish squatter colonies in the occupied West Bank and occupied Arab Jerusalem.
Prior to that, the EU published new guidelines which boycott Israeli entities operating in the West Bank, Arab Jerusalem or the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.

That site Redress you posted, is pretty much anarchists and apologists for Palestinian fascists.
-
EU people are getting in to the bad habit of banning too many things. Soon they themselves are going to be sanctioned and boycotted by all others except for the muslamic terrorists.
-
F*ck this! That means aswell for my local Tesco's in Northern Ireland. So from now on i will boycott them! >:(
-
Tesco stands for Tessie Cohen.
Founded by Jack Cohen & named for his wife Tessie.
-
Boycott those who boycott Israel... Get the message out to the Jewish community that we must not give money to Jew haters. Jews should not do business with people who hate Jews, we have the ability to take our business elsewhere.

Cohen is Jewish. A Jewish company boycotting Israeli products? Sick!

Not necessarily... A non-Jew can have a name of Cohen if his mother is a non-Jew and his father was a Jew named Cohen...

That's why I don't support them against Russia. Can't allow a group of them get too powerful and dictate.the rest of the world.

The 2 classic examples are the two gentiles 1966 England world soccer champion team player George Cohen http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Cohen
& US Secretary of Defence http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Cohen

It reminds me of the supermarket chain in the state of Washington that's boycotting Israel, in at least part because the hideous Rachel Corrie got what she deserved.

I WROTE TO TESCO - SEE THEIR REPLY:
Dear ____
Thank you for your response.
We understand that many customers have strong views from a wide variety of positions about the situation in the Middle East.
I would like to assure you that we have no plans to stop trading with Israel. We also have no plans to change our sourcing arrangements from Israel, which are in line with other retailers and in accordance with the Government's position.
We currently have one own brand line of dates that is grown in Israel but packed in the West Bank, so the product is labelled as "West Bank (Israeli settlement produce)".
As part of our regular supplier reviews, we are planning to stop using that facility from September this year.
After this time, we will not be sourcing any Tesco own brand products from the West Bank.
Thank you for taking the time to contact us.
Kind regards
Sarah Thorne

Ofcourse. Nobody's stop trading with Israel. Just like all this fools boycotting Orange's and Advocado's but keep using all the Israeli technology. So about what kind of products do we speak anyway? Which products from the west bank?
-
They explicitly mentioned that in their letter- Dates.

It's irrelevant to you because Tesco is only in the UK.
And BJ's is better than Costco.
Too bad we don't have BJ's here in Israel.

Tesco was Jewish owned, can anyone confirm who owns them now?
BTW i will be boycotting them, sainburies is better anyway.
-
I don't think they have a controlling shareholder. They are a publicly listed company (PLC) and their stock is listed in the London Stock Exchange and and NASDAQ.

I am guessing that Tesco has no problem stocking Saudi goods.
