Because the current "culture" that almost everyone is indoctrinated with isbased around "celebrities" and sex, Big Brother caters to both of those, it creates celebrities, and attempts to get people to have sex on television, it's utterly disgusting, but it is in many ways a focussed, distilled version of modern western "culture".
