U.S. Preparing for Iran Military Strike

Wednesday, September 12, 2007 10:59 PM

Top officials in the U.S. are pushing for a military strike against Iran, Fox News James Rosen reported Wednesday.

Citing a "recent decision by German officials to withhold support for any new sanctions against Iran," Fox said senior Bush administration officials have been left with no other option than to "to develop potential scenarios for a military attack on the Islamic regime."

German Chancellor Angela Merkels government recent refusal to support additional sanctions against the rogue state has made the sanctions effort useless.

Fox reported: "Political and military officers, as well as weapons of mass destruction specialists at the State Department, are now advising Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice that the diplomatic approach" has failed, and that the U.S. must now "actively prepare" for a military option.

Noting a "well-placed Bush administration source," Fox said senior policy makers are reviewing the military option and say "the likely timeframe for any such course of action being over the next eight to 10 months, after the presidential primaries have probably been decided, but well before the November 2008 elections."

The behind-the-scenes military preparations may be shadowed by a growing war of words between Washington and Tehran.

Last month President Bush raised the specter of a new "holocaust" if the Iranians are not checked.

He told a meeting of veterans, "Iran has long been a source of trouble in the region. It is the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism... And Iran's active pursuit of technology that could lead to nuclear weapons threatens to put a region already known for instability and violence under the shadow of a nuclear holocaust."
Even though I disagree with his moves in the past, I'm glad George Bush is president right now...The Germans would not support the sanctions, so force is the only option.

Hopefully as little people will die as possible and this will be resolved efficiently and as carefully as possible.

Well, it's about time. Bush has only turned a blind eye to this concept for a year. Before anybody jumps on the Bush bandwagon, let's see exactly what type of attack he's planning. Knowing Bush, it'll be total misguided strike.

Remember this: Bush is the one who put us in Iraq. He is the one who messed up. He is not willing to admit he did, in fact, mess up. Bush is the only one who could or will order the strike against Iran. With a House controlled by anti-American democrats, who are pretty much die-heart liberals, that unvetoable vote to strike Iran will never see the light of day.

George Bush is not smart enough to do the right thing. We've been over in Iraq for six years. We've been fighting a war that doesn't need to be fought. All we needed to do was have our Air Force attack Iran's bomb factories, and what needs to be done, would've been done in less than ten minutes. As a result, we would've had ZERO dead US soldiers, and the US would be hundreds of billions of dollars richer.

True.  Bush should back off and allow the military to control everything.

yeh, let's announce to the whole world that the US is going to strike Iran..that's just really smart!

Why can't the US be like Israel and just go quietly in the night and bomb nuclear reactors in Syria built by N. Korea?

Bush would not do anything if he didn't think it would gain him support, and so he is talking about Iran more to gain support than for national security.

Ok, so the Bush administration knows that Iran funds terrorism, and yet we still buy oil from them. My stomach turns when I this..

That is so true!!

I don't think its the right time for America to Attack Iran, the presidency will soon be taken over by someone else and  there are already loads of soldiers in Afghanistan, Iraq and Somalia.....which means it won't be as efficient.

Oh great, now we're going to live in Iran too.
Let's see, we currently have troops living in:
* Japan
* S Korea
* Vietnam
* Afganistan
* Iran
Hell, let's just rebuild the whole world with US dollars. Or is it the Amero.

We're not just going to take "it" down, we're going to stay there forever.
