This week, I am also involved with a forum that a board member of my co-op started. The board election is next week and I started a post about which board member should be voted off. One of them once made a statement that he will throw out all Jewish and elderly residents. He was elected 5 years ago. I haven't been kicked out yet, but I told a person who compained that I put his name down and why I hate him. I put down why and the person called me a "racist" aganist a "good christian" man. This person also threatened me by posting all over the co-op what I posted. I said, "go ahead". I was banned from that forum. I feel that I need JTF's help in my situation. Can someone help me? Please have Jimmy or Chaim answer this post. Maybe we can have a protest against this person.

I meant to say that the election is next month. About the last 11 years, my Co-op has an election for the board of directors. At least 3 spots on the 9 person board is up for election, sometimes more if someone quits or dies suddenly. I person I started the poll is one of 2 people I know is up for re-election this year for 2 of the 5 spots that are open. The person I wrote about made the comment 11 years ago when he was first on the board. Most of the people on the board at the time were elderly and Jewish. He never denied making this comment. I asked him if it were true, he wanted to know who told me that he said that. I tried to get the word out, but, there are so many people here who like him that I'm the one who gets attacked when I tell my side of the story. They never believe me and accouse me of racism. The person I am complaing about, even made a complaint to the police against me when he accoused me of putting up notices in every building telling what type of person he is. It worked till 2002 when in his 7th attempt to get elected, he finally did. He used the sympathy vote because at the time, he worked as a fire marshall in the FDNY. I need help to spread the word in my co-op from JTF. If I get help, I could finally have some protection from my fellow JTFers.

Yes but I'm also not the only Jew on now. I'm not doing official JTF work now but rather just posting. Tell it it to Jabotinsky who posts official threads saying to rate YouTube videos on Shabbat and Yom Tov.
Yeah but I don't keep the legal requirements for Shabbat or the holidays and those threads are intended for the non-Jews on the forum.

My co-op is in Queens, NY. To answer Lisa's question, my co-op does have a mangement company. The problem is I have been compaining for years. They don't act because they are afraid of a lawsuit from the man I have been complaining about. In 1999, he threatened to sue because he lost the board election after the orginal election was delayed for 6 weeks because we didn't have enough votes to hold it on the orginal date. He felt that if the election was held on the actual date, he would have won. He didn't so he hired a lawyer and was in the process of suing. It was writhdrawn when the co-op threaten to go through eviction procidings if he went through the lawsuit.

I do hope so. That's why I asked for help from JTF. They're better at organizing protests. I am tired of people supporting the man I have been writing against. They think that I'm the one who's racist because I write negative things about him. The board and the management are afraid of a law suit if they act against him. He's that crazy.

Yes a protest would unnerve the guy and you may be listened to once and for all. However Joe, you best be careful about the things you say or write against the man because i'm sure he can very well use them against you and twist it in a way that you would be at fault for libelling him.

Chaim felt it might cause my problem to get worse. But if it gets worse, he might be willing to help. I am hoping that it won't get worse. The person I have been writing about hasn't thrown out 1 jewish resident yet because he has to have a better reason like if I didn't pay my rent. I just hope he doesn't get re-elected. The deadline to throw your name into the hat for the election was yesterday. I will know how many will run against him in October. I will update you all then. Please flood the blog of my co-op in my defense.

So this person wants people thrown out because they are Jews? Its illegal for a landlord, or management company to discriminate based on religion, therefore what this board member is suggesting is illegal...if Im reading this right. Are co-ops subsidized at all by the government? How can other board members allow suggestions which are against the law by this person? I'll help if I can.

Well, Kelly the person I have been writing about so far can't throw anyone out because the majority of the board has to agree and they won't allow what he wants to do. But for years, Jews haven't been allowed into this co-op because of the old management here felt that "Jews are too much trouble". Muslims have been moving in in recent years here. But whites are still the majority population here. I have posted the address of my co-op's forum on this posting. Look for it and start posting in my behalf. Yiserel has started posting and he has gotten the same threats as I have been. I am still banned from that forum. Any help from you and the other JTFers will be forever appericated. OMG that is SO against the law! I dont know alot about co-ops but that person, whether he has the power to evict anyone or not needs to be thrown off...imagine the uproar if he was stopping people from moving in because they were black or muslim, it would make national headlines. Can anyone join the forum ?

The co-op is a Michell-Lama project. It means that it's supposed to be for middle-income families. It runs like a business because we have a shopping center to drum income to the co-op.

I don't think it will affect anything. I am not running for the board. I believe that someone threatened him. I know it's not me. I'm trying to find out if someone from this forum did because I told security of my co-op about this. So, I am covered. So far, Martinez hasn't come to me to discuss this. He didn't mention me by name, but he insuated that it's me.

Maybe if he starts up with me. On this past Friday, I recieved in the mail the ballot for my co-op's 2007 board election. Bill "The Nazi" Kregler is running again. In his statment for the election, he wants, "have management monitor and address the behavior of existing cooperators." Meaning my statements against him that I have posted on the Big Six Towers forum. When I have the time, I might attached what he wrote on this topic. Please keep supporting me and keep posting on Martinez' blog. Thank you all for your support.

Today I talked to Israel Martinez. We setteled our differences and he understands my situation and knows most of the story of the man I have been writing about. He believes, as do I that Bill Kregler has been threatening him and me on the Big Six Towers forum. Israel has accoused him on Tuesday night in an open meeting between the board of directors and all the residents of the co-op. Kregler went into a rage and they had a very heated argument. I was not there, but Israel told me what happened. Israel filed a police complaint against him and offered to give me what Kregler posted on the forum. Israel told me that the person making the threats, wanted to put me in an oven and kill me like the Nazis did during the holocost.

Wow do you guys not have some sort of bylaw or rule about one resident making threats against another, that should be grounds for removal, especially serious threats like hes making AND he has even been kind enough to record his thoughts in writing as proof.
Are you sure its safe to stay there, is this guy some loud mouth who would run crying like a little girl if faced with real conflict or is he some unstable nutter who just may act out physically?

Mr. Martinez I can assure you that Joe has not threatened you at all, and the fact that you have received Nazi like threats makes this certain, he is a Jewish man and would never stoop so low.
Infact Joe has actually created topics of discussion on the shareholders forum, one of the very few members that is interactive. Apart from that the forum seemed pretty dull.

Sarah, I have settled the matter with Mr. Martinez. In fact, I asked him to post something on this forum to get his side of the story out to a larger membership. Tonight in my building, the building reps will have a metting. I am planning to attend it. I will update you if this topic comes up.

When we did, Bill lost the election for the 4th straight year. In his "mind", if the election was held on the orginail date, he would have won a spot on the board, He hired a lawyer and was going to sue on that basis, but, the management and board talked him out of it. The reason was that the board and management was going to evict him from the co-op.

Rather than have someone read through 13 pages of posts, why don't you neatly and thoughtfully summarize what you would like in one post. Then, politely ask a moderator to sticky it either in this section or another one. That way, people cannot say they are baffled by your situation. Just a thought.

Well folks, Bill "The Nazi" Kregler got himself re-elected to the board of directors of my co-op. The only satifaction is that he got the second lowest amount of votes in the election. He will only serve another 2 years instead of 3 because of his low vote total. I might be evicted from my co-op because I'm a Jew. The only thing that can save me is that I pay my rent and don't cause any trouble in the complex. Thank you Chaim for the non-help you gave me. If I had Chaim's help in maybe making a protest here, he would have lost.

Arent there very specific rules for eviction? Sorry for my ignorance but Ive never lived in an apartment so Im not sure.

We do have a mangement company runing the day to day activites but, we own the co-op. The board and mangement really cares about if we pay the rent every month. There are ways to get around it. Kregler is voting about every year to raise our rent, parking fees and air conditioner/heat fees. The move-in charges are so high, that alot of people won't pay that much. So, he's using the old sterotype of "Jews being cheap with money". So, no more Jews are moving in here. Also, elederly people who are on a fixed income with social security, cannot pay the rent anymore. So, they move out. So, in a way, Kregler is getting his way with no Jews are elderly people living here.

Well, Bill hasn't even rubbed it in to me that he has been elected to the board in the first place. I hope he doesn't do anything. Only about 521 of the 982 ballots have been sent in for this year's election.

I'm a photographer. Well, in my co-op, we just had an election last week to elect new members for the board of directiors. It consists of 9 people. One of them, is named Bill Kregler, a former fire marshall, who wanted to throw out all Jewish and elderly residents of this co-op. He just got re-elected. I wanted Chaim's help with either a petetion campaign or a protest to keep him off the ballot and the board so, that the Jewish community of Big Six Towers of Woodside, Queens will be safe from this monster. Chaim didn't want to help because of the liberal police in New York City will arrest us for protesting here.

I don't know if I can get people to sign. Alot of them just don't want to get involved. That's why the same people run for the board every year. No one else cares. Today in my co-op, there was a hearing with the HPD to discuss the new rent increase. Most of the people who talked at the hearing, were more worried about no heat during 50 and 60 degree weather than having to pay more to live here. Thanks again for your support of me Kelly.

I forgot, Kregler spoke at the hearing. He got mostly boos. He said, "where's the love". It was the funniest moment during the whole hearing.

There is. But there is also a thing called "creative eviction". That is when a landlord makes it so uncoftable for a tennant that they move out without evicition procedings starting. That's what he's doing. The rent here is so high and the move-in charges, that the elderly are moving out and he's using the old sterotype that Jews are cheap and won't pay it so they don't move in here or those who are living here are moving out.

Theres hardly any difference in price between broadband and dial-up these days, its not worth the pain of having to wait.

They have to give us notice. It's the law. By the 15th of the month before it kicks in. We were notfied on Dec. 15. So, Happy New Year from Big Six Towers!! That's when it kicks in.

Sadly things get more expensive to run each day. The up keep on complexes like that must be astronomical. Heating bills alone would bankrupt many poorly structured developments. I hate to say it no matter where you live a private house or apartment its the rare exception when you find a place where the rent or upkeep stays the same year after year. When I bought my home 15 years ago the taxes were $3000 dollars today they are over $9000 who do I complain to. Add to this oil bills that use to be 59 cents a gallon and now are $2.95 a gallon. Last week I had 250 gallons delivered a third of a tank and it was well over 700 bucks. Forget about electric bills and just the up keep of the place in general. The sad fact is prices go up and we just have to pay or move to cheaper digs.

They are not moving in so fast because of the prices that my co-op charges new people who want to move in here. Also, there are 2 spaces in the shopping center that have been empty for some time, one for a year and a half, the other for about 9 months.
