So she is breaking Shabbat. What if someone get's hit by a car and is dying on the spot, would a Jew be allowed to dial 911 or better to stand down and let the person die? Just thinking about this. I am not Jewish and I would dial 911 always to help someone who is in need of help.

Real emergency such as you describe takes precedence to observing shabbat. Even much lesser medical emergency justifies violating shabbat. But if a rabbi says that going to a ceremony is a life or death situation than he is not a real rabbi. Honestly that is the only thing that I find somewhat wrong in the whole story. Melania and Kushner should do what they want and like most Jews they are not 100% observant. She probably tries harder than I do, I am a Jew from birth and I don't think even about breaking shabbat.

Well true. But she is the daughter of a President. In a country as the US it is not easy to follow Shabbat directly if you are in a position like that. If she did not went to the ceremony there was people on the other hand criticising her for not being their as a Presidents daughter. Such a shame that we have people these days complaining about this kind of things. Sickening.
