On our website, we have a discussion about Spain under General Franco. I have some questions.
I wrote in a issue to a thread on our site, that Franco-Spain is not to compare with the Nazis in Germany. I wrote too, that i want to keep my business and that i want to practice my religion. In a communist Spain i would never able to do this. They would take my business and they would forbid every form of religion.
On the other hand I know that Hitler helped Franco to be dictator in Spain. Franco sended a division to the East Front to fight communism and the state Spain accepted the state Israel not until the late 80s of the last century. Franco had good connections to the arab world too.
Knows anyone more about this Franco subject and how i can classify him? Thank for your answers GF

Franco have some spanish Fascist (not nazist) from Spanish Falang until fifties but they were later replaced by Opus Dei operatives; BTW Lebanon's Falangist party Katab which was allly of Israel against PLO and Syrians; was founded after Spanish Falange; Franco who was conservative himself was neutral during the war (after Canaris advice to not back up Hitler) and his diplomats recued many Jews in Budapest. Divison Azul (Blue) was all volunteer unit who never comitted any war crime and Hitler said after meeting with Franco that he felt like during visit to a dentist; the he should back up Republicans becouse they were already good radicals and socialists and material for good national socialists in the future. BTW mayority of aid to national side was from Fascist Italy not nazi germany.
