Title: Should Groundhog's Day be banned?
Post by: admin on October 07, 2007, 03:49:44 PM
What do people think? Groundhog's Day is the pagan Mid-Winter festival equivalent to Halloween (Mid-Fall).

We can't ban holidays. I'm sure that there are still pagans that exist somewhere in this world and they should certainly be allowed to celebrate it. That said Jews and Righteous Christians should not celebrate any pagan holidays

The movie was great with a great story line.A good moral at the end. A few dirty but funny parts.I went to see where they filmed it.It was fun.I never took it serious but up in the PENN state its a morning drinking party.

I thought the movie was cute. But I thought the show "Daybreak" which was on last year, which followed the same concept as Groundhog Day, was so much more exciting! It was like a roller coaster version of Groundhog Day! Oh, but then again, it starred a dumb stupid schvartze, so I guess it couldn't have been that good ;)

It's a useless holiday that nobody even cares about. This technique of using a groundhound to determine the upcoming weather is scientifically flawed and a waste of time.

I actually cried in one part of this movie..when he kept on trying to save the bum's life and kept failing.

I only like Groundhog's Day if the rodent predicts a shorter winter.  As long as he does this, I say we should keep his day around.

That's because it is a Northern Hemisphere pagan holiday where a groundhog "predicts" when Winter will end.

 :::D :::D :::D

We have maggies that do that here.

America is non a Jewish Country, if they want a rat telling them what the weather will be let them. All the other times they watch the rat on NBC does it matter.

That is for Gentiles to decide since they are not kosher.

Are they related to pigs? Aren't pigs a kind of hog too?

LOL I don't think they are technically hogs, if anything they are rodents.

You think groundhogs even know what Groundhog's Day is? They are just innocent victims of the pagans.

I am sure they are aware every year people come to see them, animals are not the stupid ones.

It's a silly myth if anything, they say about when winter is suppose to end shortly.  Well technically between Groundhog's day and the first day of Spring is 6 weeks.  So, this is just I feel like some Urban Legend if anything.  Banning though? I don't know if that will happen.

Well isn't it suppose to be if it sees it shadow?  Well in late winter you hardly have sun, but if by chance the sunlight comes through everything's shadow will form..

Hmm does this means if the sun cast our shadow that Summer will arrive months from now (Those in the north of the Equator that is.)?

You think they remember that the same thing happens every year on the same day?

Of course, animals learn every quickly and remember what happens, its apart of nature and what helps them survive.

My dogs know their birthdays, they expect special treats. My oldest cat who is 12 loves her birthday and will wait on top of the TV until you give her a gift. Only does this once a year on her birthday.

My dog warns my mum of her sugar level if it goes too low...etc.

Animals are gifted creatures and are in a very honored place in my life.

I seriously doubt the American public would want these events banned, why don't we consentrate on something that will bring the public interested in our message.

They are everywhere, damn horrible things, they attack live people as well as dead. Lay 24 hours in one spot you are gone.

I remember on  night we watched them devour a camel that had died that day, less that 24 hours just bones.

I tend to believe that there's more than just a little truth to "folk tales" based on wild animal behaviors.

Personal observation has convinced me that our neighbors in the animal kingdom possess an instinctual knowledge of the natural world which transcends the sensory limitations of humankind.

Many if not most of these "superstitions" are considered unreliable only because many people are not aware of the most subtle shifts in animal behavior.

It's a fact that pet dogs and cats yearn to leave home and will disappear the week prior to an earthquake.  Also seen in the days prior to a big quake are burrowing snakes emerging into plain view above ground.

Another natural sign overlooked by most people is "the panic flight of birds"... an always reliable indication that a storm is approaching.

I'll go with Phil as opposed to Al Gore anyday!
