POLL: What is your stance on our environment?

Our government needs to DRASTICALLY increase environmental standards regardless of the cost.  Focus on renewable energy sources (wind, solar, ocean power, geothermal power.)
7 (36.8%)
Our government needs to SOM EWHAT increase environmental standards but be practical about it.  This may include higher standards on existing fossil fuel technologies, and a shift to bio-fuels, natural gas, and/or nuclear power.
9 (47.4%)
Our government should keep environmental standards THE SAME, as pollution is not a significant problem, and I don’t want to stifle manufacturing competition.
1 (5.3%)
Out government should REDUCE/LOOSEN environmental standards, as they are currently too stringent and keep us from competing with countries that do not follow such strict standards.
2 (10.5%)

I vote for a drastic change.

We can't depend on energy reserves from terrorist countries. 9/11 should of been a wake up call, but people still don't get it. Everytime we pump our gas the socialists in Venezuela are laughing all the way to the bank, the Muslim animals in Saudi Arabia fund Islamic schools across the U.S and Europe, and the Iranians get one step closer to a nuclear weapon.

As far as the enviornmental argument, God made us the protectors of the earth. We need to protect it and guard it. Global warming is serious and we need to find alternative energy right away.

Let's make this clear, the government is completely against alternative energy. Did you know that parts of the Midwest can supply all the electricity requirements for all of America through the use of windpower? Big brother doesn't want you to know that! We need to fight for alternative energy.

Same here, we need drastic change instead of practical. We need to fight for energy independence! O0

Briann, the reason people are voting for drastic action is not because of the environment, but rather because the very survival of America and the Western world is being endangered by our suicidal addiction to oil. If we do not take emergency measures to end this addiction, we will face a catastrophe. Giving trillions of dollars to Muslim nations to buy their oil is the height of insanity.

We have to take great care of our environment. Of course, we need economic growth, but it's necessary to have healthy growth.

Look at China, they are poisoning and destroying whole parts of their country. In the big cites they often have trouble with smoke causing health problems.

Chaim has made it clear several times: getting rid of our dependence from oil by finding alterative sources of energy is absolutely important and it will also help us saving the environment.

Yes, you're probably right, and I originally included the part about the rationale behind each answer... but thought that sound too leading.

However, I do think that there are people here in the far right who care about the environment... maybe not as much as the tree-huggers, but still more than a typical G.O.P. partisan.   I've always thought nationalism and environmentalism had overlap, and that pollution can be cultural, lingual, and/or environmental.

Cause this has been one of the coldest winter that I can remember
