M'kay. How do you find the patience to deal with people that 'push your buttons?'
Sometimes I don't deal well with it, and I feel really angry and react badly.
Sometimes I try to figure out why someone is acting that way and it helps. For example there was someone, when one of the outside cats had disappeared for a while, who told me "well that's one less mouth to feed". As if that would comfort me somehow. The comment was completely inappropriate and I didn't understand how they could think it was at first. However I realized it was the mental condition that they had that caused them to be like that.
They were just unable to see things from someone else's viewpoint.
Sometimes people are just plain narcissistic and they don't think other people's feelings count, as long as they can have a laugh at someone else's expense or as long as they feel good. Narcissists don't understand why you would feel bad if they're feeling good. After all, they're happy, so you should be happy too!
On the other hand some people don't have mental conditions that they can use as an excuse. Some people are deliberate jerks. These people's nasty comments should be seen about as equivalent to a yapping chihuahua. Meaningless.
