Iran becoming more Christian!

An Iranian acquaintance of mine is convinced that in Iran most people are less Islamic than the government, whereas in Iraq (under Saddam) the opposite was true. Is there hope? I don't know. The church service bears much in common with an African Evangelical black church, while none of this is much consolation to an Iranian woman being prepared for stoning. Or to anyone in Israel.

I don't count on it either. How many Iranians abroad are officially leaving Islam ? What's true to some extent is that the Iranians, or at least the more affluent and educated class, is less Islamist than their government.

I have actually in fact heard that more Iranians have converted to Christianity than residents of any other camelraping nation.

There is a small Jewish community there, yes. Whether they refuse to leave because they are stubborn or because they are forced to remain there, I do not know.

30-50,000, that's not alot, but it is almost certainly the biggest or second biggest Jewish community in a muslim country today. Maybe there are more Jews in Turkey. Anyway most Jews who want to leave Iran can do so, but they would have to leave much of their assets and their business behind which is probably why  they stayed.

Interesting. I knew a kid who was smuggled over from Iran with his family. He was in my yeshiva day school when I was little. Not sure where they are now, but the story was quite fascinating.

Nope! It is Saudi Arabia, Algeria and Afghanistan. In Iran,Christians and Jews can at least follow their religions, have churches/synagogues and are toleranted. While in Saudi-Arabia they do not even allow Jews into the country, Christians have to let their crucifixes and Bibles at the customs and just have them back when they leave. Christian worship is not allowed on Saudi ground, that means there is NO SINGLE church in all of the country and if you want to pray, you may do it alone or with your family at home. But it is not allowed to have a reunion for praying. This would result in immediate expelling!  (Well I remember earlier this year Saudi-Arabia complained with Amnesty International about Germany allegedly discriminating Muslims!)
The same and worse things go for Afghanistan where non-Muslims are left to be eaten by dogs when they die!  And Algeria does not allow Christians to live in Algeria - only temporarily if they are diplomatic staff!
