Pelosi: House Lacks Votes for Healthcare

Pelosi is admitting that she doesn't have the votes to get the Senate version of Obamacare rammed through. And with Brown's election, healthcare reform, in it's present form, appears to be dead.

House Democrats lack enough votes to pass the Senate's healthcare bill, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday.

Pelosi threw cold water on the idea that the House could muster enough support to pass the Senate's bill, which includes a number of provisions liberals in the House find distasteful.

"I don't see the votes for it at this time," Pelosi told reporters during her weekly press conference. "The members have been very clear."

Or rather the constituents have been very clear. A Republican victory in Massachusetts will do that to you.

"We have to get a bill passed. We know that," Pelosi said, adding that "unease would be a gentle word" to describe House members' attitude toward the Senate legislation at the moment.

It's more than unease. This 'unease' is panic that they might actually be ousted by the voters in their districts. It's starting to look like it will take a miracle for Obamacare to pass the House and Senate. And at this point no miracle looks to be forthcoming. Good riddance.

The people of the United States have spoken,   with the election of Scott Brown in Massachusetts the explanation point that most Americans are against ObamaCare/  PelosiCare/  ReidCare.     The election of Scott Brown might ( G-d willing ) prove to be the difference in many people living much longer than would have been the case of this hideous legislation was passed.

Scott Brown has indeed gummed up the works for the Democrats however I don't see them playing dead on this yet... I think they are going to try and salvage some small parts of the legislation and build on as they can.

Agreed,   cjd.

While I'm much more optimistic about the situation,     the strategy that you mentioned is a VERY realistic possibility.     While BHO is evil,   he's DETERMINED for his agenda to succeed.      Even if it takes down MANY Democrats in the coming elections.
