Edelstein asks Zuckerberg to remove Facebook Intifada page

Israel's Minister of Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs, Yuli Edelstein, has asked Facebook President Mark Zuckerberg to remove a page calling for a third 'Palestinian intifada' to start on May 15. As of this writing, the page has been 'liked' by 325,477 people.
Yuli Edelstein, minister of diplomacy and Diaspora affairs, in a letter sent Wednesday called Zuckerberg's attention to the Facebook page "Third Palestinian Intifada," which calls for a third Palestinian uprising to begin May 15. The page, which has more than 230,000 friends, includes quotes and film clips calling for killing Jews and Israelis, and for "liberating" Jerusalem and Palestine using violence.

"As Facebook's CEO and founder, you are obviously aware of the site's great potential to rally the masses around good causes, and we are all thankful for that," Edelstein wrote. "However, such potential comes hand in hand with the ability to cause great harm, such as in the case of the wild incitement displayed on the above-mentioned page."
I wonder if such an 'intifada' would convince the 'international community' not to unilaterally create a 'Palestinian state.'

Nah, that's probably expecting too much.

Zuckerkike only believes in money, not God.
The city isn't what it used to be. It all happened so fast. Everything went to crap. It's like... everyone's sense of morals just disappeared. Bad economy made things worse. Jobs started drying up, then the stores had to shut down. Then a black man was elected president. He was supposed to change things. He didn't. More and more people turned to crime and violence... The town becomes gripped with fear. Dark times, dark times... I am the hero this town needs. I am... The Coon!!!

Battle Over Facebook's Third Intifada' Page

The Internet is heating up over Facebook's refusal to block a fan page calling for a Third Intifada against Israel.

An email campaign to pressure the popular social networking site into removing the page has been mounted by pro-Israel groups as well as private individuals. All have expressed increasing concern over the potential danger to Israeli citizens that may result from the page, which clearly promotes violence against Jews in Israel.

One woman was killed and a second person is still in critical condition, with 50 others wounded after terrorists planted a bomb filled with ball bearings and sharp objects next to a busy bus stop last Wednesday across from the Central Bus Station in Jerusalem.  The attack came the week after the heinous murder of 5 members of the Fogel family, and during a week in which long-range Grad Katyusha missiles were fired from Gaza at Ashdod, Ashkelon, Be'er Sheva, Yavneh and just south of Rishon LeTzion. Numerous other short-range Kassam rockets exploded in Jewish communities throughout the western Negev, as Gaza terrorists continue to escalate their attacks on southern Israel.

Meanwhile, rock attacks on the roads of Judea and Samaria appear to be on a corresponding rise as well, leading to speculation over whether a third intifada may indeed be on the way.

Abraham H. Foxman, National Director of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), slammed the site for its willingness to support a page that promotes violence against Jews and its unwillingness to comply with its own terms of service.

Although the page is written almost entirely in Arabic, a display ad in big English letters posted on the page warns, “If Facebook Blocked This Page... All Muslims Will Boycott Facebook For Ever!”

As of Sunday morning, the page had garnered 328,000 “Likes” from readers.

Foxman said his organization had reached out to Facebook with a request to have the page taken down, but “to no avail” – despite the fact that the page is in clear violation of the site's terms of service.

The page, 'Third Palestinian Intifada', urges its readers to copy the link, place it in their profiles and publish it on all pictures, videos and pages – everywhere they can. An alert announces that a march to “Palestine” will begin from neighboring countries on May 15 and soon after, “Palestine will be liberated and we will be freed. Our goal now is to reach millions of subscribers on this page before May.”

The page also includes inflammatory language that calls for supporters to build on the previous two murderous previous intifadas in which Arab terrorists murdered and wounded thousands of Israeli civilians. The second intifada is also called the Oslo War as it took place after the Oslo peace accords were signed by PLO leader Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Yitschak Rabin. The notice refers readers to related content on other sites such as Twitter and YouTube.

“This Facebook page constitutes an appalling abuse of technology to promote terrorist violence,” said Foxman.

“We should not be so naïve to believe that a campaign for a 'Third Intifada' does not portend renewed violence, especially in the current climate that has seen a dramatic increase in rocket attacks from Gaza, the brutal murder of the Fogel family in the West Bank, and a terrorist bombing in Jerusalem.”

Last week, Yuli Edelstein, Israel's Minister of Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs also sent a letter to Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO and one of its founders over the issue. He wrote him that the site has "great potential to rally the masses around good causes, and we are all thankful for that. However, such potential comes hand in hand with the ability to cause great harm, such as in the case of the wild incitement displayed" on the Third Palestinian Intifada page.

A petition urging Facebook to remove the dozens of pages promoting hatred of Israel and incitement to kill Jews -- incuding the page calling for a Third Intifada -- has been started on the Internet by the Jerusalem-based Aish HaTorah Yeshiva. The petition calls on Facebook to "remove any pages that promote hate against Israel and the Jewish people."

Zuckerberg is a selfish individual without principles nor ethics, who is only concerned about his career and his ego. He couldn't care less what may happen to the Jewish people. I'm sure he would be delighted if he could claim that the third "intifada" started on Facebook because he could then brag about how Facebook has a major influence on world affairs.

Facebook CEO refuses to delete Hamas third intifada page.

The Anti Defamation League filed Friday an official complaint against Facebook for refusing to remove the Facebook fan page called the Third Palestinian Intifada.
“This Facebook page constitutes an appalling abuse of technology to promote terrorist violence,” said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director
“Although the managers of this group claim to be calling for peaceful demonstrations, the Third Intifada pages include calls for followers to build on the previous two intifadas. We should not be so naïve to believe that a campaign for a ‘Third Intifada’ does not portend renewed violence, especially in the current climate that has seen a dramatic increase in rocket attacks from Gaza, the brutal murder of the Fogel family in the West Bank, and a terrorist bombing in Jerusalem.”
The fan page, which has over 308,395 fans, is dedicated to encourage the outbreak a third Intifada in Israel, and warns that if Facebook removes the page "all Muslims will boycott Facebook forever."
“We are disappointed that Facebook has rejected our request to remove this site, which is in clear violation of their terms of service," the ADL said in a statement.
"We are especially disappointed in this case because in the past there has often been understanding and sensitivity from Facebook when we have brought violations of its own rules to its attention. We urge Facebook to reconsider its decision and remove this site, which by its very title incites violence," the statement added.

It is a disgusting website that promotes vanity and weakness in good people. Now it outright is promoting the destruction of the Jewish people. I'm not condoning harming anyone, I would simply love to see the hypocrisy evident if someone were to make a page wishing harm on Zuckerberg how fast it would be removed.

Good job by Mort Klein for trying to get this Nazi page removed:

ZOA Demands Facebook's Zuckerberg To Delete Page Calling For Terror War Against Israel

March 28, 2011
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Contact: Morton A. Klein
Phone: 212-481-1500

The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has written to Mark Zuckerberg, CEO and founder of Facebook, to demand that he remove a Facebook page, ‘Third Palestinian Intifada,’ which calls for a ‘third Intifada’ – a terrorist wave, intending to murder Israelis, civilian and military – to commence on May 15, 2011, the 63rd anniversary of Israel’s independence. The Facebook page in question, which has over 230,000 friends and over 28,2000 people who have recorded ‘liking’ it, is replete with photographs, video-clips and postings calling for violence and murder of Israelis and Jews and for ‘liberating’ Jerusalem and ‘Palestine’ through war, violence and acts of terror.

In a letter to Mr. Zuckerberg, ZOA National President Morton A. Klein said, “A perusal of this Facebook page makes clear that a wide-ranging campaign of violence and murder against Israeli military and civilians is being planned. The organizers of this racist, anti-Semitic campaign do not believe that the Jewish state of Israel has a right to exist. They call for coordinated attacks by Palestinians and other Arabs upon Israel, including rocket attacks upon Israeli cities by the Lebanese, Iranian-backed Hizballah terrorist group.

“As founder and CEO of Facebook, you are in a position of enormous responsibility to ensure that this pioneering social media outlet does not serve as a recruiting and coordination office for terrorists, extremists and murderers attempting to orchestrate a terrorist war. Already in recent days, and perhaps in part in anticipation of a build-up to this ‘third intifada,’ increased rocket attacks have been launched upon Israel from Gaza by Hamas, a recognized terrorist movement that calls in its Charter for the destruction of Israel and the murder of Jews. That includes murdering you and your family, Mr. Zuckerberg. There has also been a bomb attack in Jerusalem, one of the very few to have occurred in recent years, in which one person was murdered and forty other wounded, several of them critically.

“The 2000 Arafat terror war, also known as the second or Al Aqsa intifada, resulted in years of suicide bombings and the deaths of nearly 2,000 Israelis and the wounding and maiming of thousands more. The first intifada raged for four years and saw scores of Israelis killed and hundreds wounded. We urge you not to permit Facebook to be used for a recruitment and coordination in the service of a viciously anti-Israel, anti-Jewish campaign. I would be pleased to discuss this very important matter with you at any time.”

"Israel's leaders seem to be more afraid of Obama than they are of G-d. Now we're getting to the real root of the problem. Secular politics won't save Israel. Denying the divine nature of the Jewish State has brought Israel neither stability nor peace. When that changes Israel will finally be blessed with both in abundance"-----------NormanF   ( Posted on Israel Matzav's Blog )

Facebook, Zuckerberg Sued For $1 Billion After Not Removing A Page Fast Enough

I took my sweet time to check if this was an April Fools joke to be put on our exhaustive 2011 list, but it appears to be as real as can be.

Larry Klayman, a renowned American activist, former Justice Department prosecutor, former U.S. Senate candidate and book author, says he has sued both Facebook and founder Mark Zuckerberg for over $1 billion after the social networking giant failed to remove a page calling for a third intifada against Israel’s Jewish population swiftly enough.

The suit was filed yesterday in Washington by Klayman, himself of Jewish origin. The complaint is embedded below.

Klayman, who founded controversial law firm Judicial Watch as well as political advocacy group Freedom Watch, alleges that Zuckerberg and Facebook willfully kept a page calling for a third Palestinian intifada against Jews online to “further their revenues and the net worth” of the company. The page, which was removed on March 29 because, according to Facebook, it indeed made “direct calls for violence” in violation of its policies.

On the page, Palestinians were urged to take to the streets after Friday prayers on May 15, 2011, and commence an uprising in the vein of the first two popular intifadas. “Judgment Day will be brought upon us only once the Muslims have killed all of the Jews,” read the call. The page reportedly garnered more than 340,000 fans.

undefined

The removal of the page, which according to Klayman was “begrudgingly” ordered after increased pressure was exerted by himself, the Israeli government and organizations like the Anti-Defamation League, did not stop him from filing suit against the company.

The activist argues that damage has already been done, and that he fears for his life since he’s been “called a Zionist publicly by radical Palestinians and other such Arabic interests” and is “thus a target of this call to kill Jews” along with other prominent public figures.

The complaint alleges assault and negligence, gross negligence and recklessness on Facebook’s part. It reserves the right to be amended into a class action suit and prays for damages in excess of $1 billion, plus an award of attorneys fees and costs.

Amusingly, Klayman bases part of his allegations on the fictional movie ‘The Social Network’:

“While Facebook has accomplished a lot of good, it can, as in this instance, be used for nefarious and evil purposes. Defendants Zuckerberg’s and Facebook’s callous and greedy actions in not taking down the page, but willfully allowing it to stay up for many days, has caused huge damage, for which they must be held accountable, so as to prevent this from ever happening again.

They must be not only enjoined but also hit in their purse, which is where they understand matters best. Apparently, the ethically compromised Zuckerberg has no conscience or sense of right or wrong, as depicted recently in the award winning film “Social Network.”

On the off chance that you still think this is a joke (and I’m honestly still a little in doubt myself), know that Klayman isn’t one to kid around when it comes to litigation.

As the founder and former Chairman of Judicial Watch, he attained notoriety through the initiation of 18 civil lawsuits against the Clinton Administration, and subsequently, an unsuccessful lawsuit against Vice-President Dick Cheney in order to obtain information about the White House’s energy task force.

Klayman’s targets have also included OPEC and Osama bin Laden. Most of his high profile lawsuits have been dismal failures, though.

Klayman also authored a book titled ‘WHORES: Why and How I Came to Fight the Establishment’ and regularly writes columns for conservative news site WorldNewsDaily.

Slate in a column titled Nut Watch once dubbed Klayman a “one-man litigation explosion” after word got out that, aside from suing the likes of Hillary Clinton, Venezuela President Hugo Chavez, the Ground Zero Mosque and the Federal Reserve and the Department of the Treasury, he once even filed a lawsuit against his own mother.

Request for comments were not immediately returned by either Facebook or mr. Klayman.

Update: Facebook declined to comment on the lawsuit as it hasn’t been served yet, but issued this statement with regards to the controversial page:

“The Page, The Third Palestinian Intifada, began as a call for peaceful protest, even though it used a term that has been associated with violence in the past. In addition, the administrators initially removed comments that promoted violence. However, after the publicity of the Page, more comments deteriorated to direct calls for violence. Eventually, the administrators also participated in these calls. After administrators of the page received repeated warnings about posts that violated our policies, we removed the Page.

We continue to believe that people on Facebook should be able to express their opinions, and we don’t typically take down content that speaks out against countries, religions, political entities, or ideas.

However, we monitor Pages that are reported to us and when they degrade to direct calls for violence or expressions of hate–as occurred in this case–we have and will continue to take them down.”
