Jewish Home party head says he favors demolishing Jewish towns built on private Arab land – as happened in Migron.

Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria (Shomron) that are found to have been built on privately owned Arab land should be destroyed, Bayit Yehudi (Jewish Home) party head Naftali Bennett said Thursday, in an interview with Channel 2 to be aired later in the evening.

“They should be removed like a home built on private land in [the Israeli city of] Raanana would be removed,” he opined.

The issue of Israeli communities on private Arab land is controversial. The Jordanian government rewarded its residents with land parcels in Judea and Samaria during its 19-year rule in the area, but much of the land was wilderness that was never used in the decades that followed, leading some nationalist Jews to argue that there is no real ownership.

In addition, in some recent cases Israeli communities have been demolished when Arab ownership of the land was partial or even completely unproven.

Bennett’s statement may have been directed at Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who is expected to soon be choosing coalition partners. The stance voiced by Bennett dovetails with the Prime Minister’s views, and is similar to opinions held by some Likud MKs.

Bennett made a second controversial statement as well, declaring that the next government should focus on social welfare, not security. “The security threat is less critical,” he reportedly said, adding that it would be possible for the government to cut the Defense Ministry’s budget in order to free up money for addressing social issues.

The Otzma Leyisrael party responded to Bennett’s statements, accusing the Bayit Yehudi leader of “turning left” and “revealing that his opinions are similar to those of the Likud.”

“Otzma Leyisrael knows that land disputes need to be solved in the spirit of the Levy Report, and not by destroying communities and expelling Jews,” the party said, referring to the Levy Report’s suggestion that land disputes involving long-standing Israeli communities be solved by compensating Arab owners.

What nerve. Can you imagine someone saying that about destroying Arab neighborhoods in Israel?

And this is the man that Yigal Amir endorses? Maybe he is not aware of the things we are aware of... They must give him propaganda in prison...

It is interesting that this is called a left-wing tactic because amongst the majority of Israelis Amir is seen as a pariah. I commented that Amir is a hero who has been misled to vote for the so-called 'right wing'...

Bennett: Yigal Amir Endorsement is Attempt to Intimidate Voters

Bennett responded to reports that Yigal Amir, PM Yitzhak Rabin's assassin, endorses his party and is encouraging others to vote as well.

Jewish Home Chairman Naftali Bennett responded Thursday morning to reports that the man who assassinated Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin intends to vote for his party and is encouraging others to do so as well.

The mother of Yigal Amir, a Jewish rightwing extremist serving a life sentence for the 1995 assassination of Rabin, spoke to Israel's Army Radio, and said she was not planning to vote in the January 22 elections, but that her son had made his preference clear.

"I know that he's leaning towards Bennett and that he is trying to convince other members of the family to vote for him," she said.

In Israel, prisoners have the right to vote, although it was not clear if Yigal Amir planned to cast a ballot or had simply announced his backing for Bennett's faction.

In an interview with Army Radio, Bennett said the report was simply an attempt to intimidate voters and bears no value to the issues at hand.

"This is an obsessive preoccupation and it is honestly irrelevant," Bennett said, adding that the real, difficult issues that must be dealt with in the government and addressed during the elections are being ignored for unsubstantial fodder.

"The main issues are national security and finances, not this nonsense,” said Bennett.

"This is an attempt to get voters to say 'Wow, if the killer is voting for this party, I won't vote,'" said Bennett.

Tzipi Livni was quick to comment on the news of the endorsement, saying, "The idea that someone who tried to kill democracy in Israel and who assassinated a prime minister recommends voting for Jewish Home should make everyone who considered voting for Bennett tremble as they enter the voting booth."
You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities

I thought that you were getting "discouraged" at the fact that most of JTF was against Bennett.

It's really pathetic, and what's alarming is he says it before the elections, so it seems Bennett believes he can increase his support by embracing this left wing position.
