Shalom,

As many here know I am an avid supporter of the Chabad organization. I have several close relationships with Chabad emissaries in my area (and in Los Angeles also) and I spread the light of Chabad everywhere I can.

Today, Gimmel Tammuz (3rd day of the month of Tammuz), is the 20th anniversary of the passing of the righteous tzadik Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson. As you know I do not believe he was Moshiach and I strongly argue against anyone viewing the Rebbe as anything more than a Tzadik (who has qualities that the Talmud ascribe to a tzadik).

The Rebbe's tireless love of the Jewish people led him to bring together students and followers from many walks of Jewish life. His influence on the entire Jewish people is still felt, 20 years after he has left this world. The Chabad organization has grown and thrived even without such a focused leader, through the incredible teachings that he has taught, and the writings he has left.

I know two of my Rabbis are in New York today for the annual event at the Rebbe's grave... I spoke with my closest rabbi yesterday who was just leaving for the flight.

Some videos of the rabbi of Lubavitch, and his incredible light.

You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities
Duet 16:13-14

This biography is old, but it is pretty interesting.

A new book has been written, which I will be getting a copy of this week, which is discussed in this video:

You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities

The Rebbe often spoke of the imminent coming of Moshiach. But what he said was not unique to Chabad. The entire Chassidic movement, based on the teachings of medieval Torah scholars, believed that Moshiach was coming very soon. As the holy Talmud teaches, the Moshiach can come in a heartbeat.

Miketz

Rabbi Eliyahu Hoffmann

Bit By Bit/Without Delay

Twelve years had passed since Yosef's imprisonment. "Vayehi miketz shenasayim yamim, And it happened at the end of two years to the day..." Chazal, our sages, note that the term Vayehi/And it was, always alludes to grief. One can imagine Yosef's distress at this point. He had entered prison at the tender age of 17. He was now almost thirty years old. A good part of his life had been spent in a dreary cell. And there was no end in sight.

"And Pharaoh was dreaming... Then the head of the cupbearers spoke before Pharaoh... And there, with us, was a Hebrew youth... And Pharaoh sent and summoned Yosef, and he was rushed from the prison." Sforno comments, "And he was rushed - this is the manner of every Divine salvation, which comes hastily and unexpectedly. Mashiach's coming, too, will occur hastily and without any warning."

Indeed, regarding the future redemption it is written (Malachi 3:1), "And suddenly - He will enter his Sanctuary!" The Gemara states, "Three things come be-hesach ha-daas/without any warning; Mashiach, a found object, and a scorpion."

In a different Gemara, however, we find the exact opposite. "Rabbi Chiya Rabbah said to Rabbi Shimon ben Chalafta: Such will be the redemption of Israel: Bit by bit it will sprout and grow... like the rising of the sun." [Talmud Yerushalmi, Berachos 1:1] So which one is it - A gradual process or an abrupt surprise?

This special presentation of The Shleimus HaAretz Talk Show has been prepared in tribute to the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, to mark the anniversary of his death on Gimmel (3rd) Tammuz.

According to traditions, several thousand years ago the Jewish leader Yehoshua (Joshua) prayed on this date that the sun should neither set nor its light fade until the battle at Givon against the enemies of Israel would be won.

With each and every national crisis that occurs in the Land of Israel, what appears to have been the setting of the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s sun is perhaps nowhere else more keenly felt.

It has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that negotiations and every accord and agreement Israel signs and unconditionally fulfills conceding land and security leads to disaster for the Jewish People.  In dismay and distress, Jews suffer terrorism and war, the kidnapping of their children and the murder of precious loved ones all on the altar of political and diplomatic considerations first.

The Lubavitcher Rebbe repeatedly cried out in pain and protest against the secret plans to return the miraculously won territories throughout Israel that were liberated in the Six Day War. It was the Rebbe who spoke over and over again against the signing of the Camp David Accords, knowing their implementation would spell disaster for all of the Jewish people.  And it was the Rebbe who encouraged settlement throughout the Land, specifially in those places most disputed by international powers, as the only way to prove that we Jews believe in our G-d-given, eternal right to live there.

The second Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Dov Ber, once wrote that even when it seems the sun has set and gone away and we are left feeling alone, bereft and fearful of the night, the moon will always rise to reflect the sun’s reassuring light.

And may we, the Jewish People, who are compared to the moon rise to reflect the Rebbe’s sun and bring about an immediate reversal of the ways things have been done till now and may it coincide with the immediate coming of Moshiach and the Geula Shleima.

This was mentioned in the article I posted above...

G-d Bless the Rebbe and Chabad!
"Israel's leaders seem to be more afraid of Obama than they are of G-d. Now we're getting to the real root of the problem. Secular politics won't save Israel. Denying the divine nature of the Jewish State has brought Israel neither stability nor peace. When that changes Israel will finally be blessed with both in abundance"-----------NormanF   ( Posted on Israel Matzav's Blog )
