A new Pew survey shows that Americans are more are considerably fonder of Jews, Catholics and Christians

A new Pew survey published yesterday, on American attitudes toward different religious groups, finds that U.S. citizens are actually quite enamored with us yehudim.
In fact, the study finds that Americans are more fond of Jews than any other religious group in the country.
The timing of the study is a bit suspicious, given the ongoing conflict in the Middle East which has caused much segregation here in the West, separating republicans from democrats, left-wingers from right wingers, and, of course, pro-Palestinians from pro-Israelis.
Though of course, there has been the rare beacon of light here and there.
The result of the survey also seems to have the capacity to further agitate this segregation, which we really don't need.
In any event, as anti-Semitism continues to wreak havoc in Europe, it's comforting to know that, alongside Canada - led by number one pro-Israel supporter Stephen Harper - the United States is also a welcome haven for Jews, making this side of the Diaspora all the more appealing.
The Pew study asked participants to ask each faith group on a "feeling thermometer" from 1-100. The higher the number, the "warmer" their feelings towards them. 3,217 participants placed Jews first - their average rating being 63 - just beating the Catholics (who rated 62) and evangelical Christians (rated 61).
Tough loss.
On the "colder" side of the feelings chart, atheists received a rank of 41, while Muslims received a 40.
Participants also rated their own respective religious faiths, where the marks were, naturally, considerably higher. Jews have the most self-esteem, it seems, with an 89 rating. Pretty, pretty high there.
Both evangelical Christians and atheists rate themselves at 82, while the more self-reflective Catholics gave themselves an 80.
It's also worth noting that evangelical Christians gave Jews a fairly high mark (69), while Jews gave them in return only a 34. That stings.
The study also looked at it from a political standpoint, with Republicans ranking Jews a 67, while Democrats gave a 62. Interestingly, Jews were the highest rated for Democrats among all religious groups, and scored second for Republicans after evangelicals.
Republicans also voted Muslims a harsh 33 (Democrats rated them a 44).
What entirely is the purpose of this study I'm not quite sure, but I can say that it wasn't exactly an ideal time to have a popularity contest.
As I recall from my highschool days, losing those are never any fun, and while these results don't mean anything, it's likely not too inspiring for the atheists and Muslims who were voted last.
