I open up chrome on my tablet and put in a local address. Yes I said a LOCAL IP - 10.0.0.x. That's the computer sitting right next to me. There should be no outside activity. But chrome sends some string to lga15s43-in-f7.1e100.net just to make sure the website I'm going to is safe.
Yes, I know 1e100.net is all of googles search servers. So when you are stupid enough to type something in that search box next to the address bar, your search query goes there.
How do I know? I run my own gateway on a linux virtual machine. I monitor all traffic.
So for those of you who refuse to use anything but chrome, use something else.
