we just had a lecturer at my college speaking on the topic of 'italian jews and the holocaust'. he (btw the professors name is Stanislao G. Pugliese and he teaches at Hofstra) remarked that the first time he began speaking on this topic he was met with remarks such as 'there is no such thing as italian jews!' but now there more awareness on the topic.
There is even an italian-jewish dialect called Giudecco-Romanesco, a mixture of roman dialect and hebrew. They still write books and talk in that language.

there is no such thing as an Italian Jew, just like there is no such thing as an "American Jew." It's just "Jew"

I know you're joking, and I know you're half Italian yourself, but this language really is offensive. Please consider the fact that new posters may get the wrong impression.

Italian Jews are the oldest Jewish community in Europe,yes in Italys case the Jews there can be called Italian

There were even Italian Jews in Mussolini's government.  Italy was not an antisemitic country, but the political pressures placed on them by the Germans forced them to cave in.
