Was Joseph McCarthy a true American hero?

Many right-wing Republicans have argued this, but when he broke down and cried at his own prosecution that just seemed like an admission of guilt to me.

He was right that communists had infiltrated all levels of government but his methods were farcical and arguably harmed the anti-Communist crusade.

Joseph McCarthy was a true patriot and should be in the history books as an American hero. He was trying to stop the left wing destruction of our country 50 years ago.

As an enemy of the left, naturally he was villified by them for it, since the left infest academia (beats getting a real job), the left are the historians, and the left has been slandering the name of McCarthy for the last 50 years.
Nuke the arabs till they glow, then shoot them in the dark.
