Just to let you (Jews) know that you are wrong thinking that serbs like and support you. They only pretend to do that so they can turn you against Croatians.

The Jewish community in Belgrade flourished most notably in the 17th century when Belgrade had a yeshiva (a Jewish religious school), numerous community and cultural centres, Jewish charitable organizations, societies and shops. A beautiful 17th century Sephardic synagogue, then one of the most prominent buildings in the city, stood in today's Cara Uroša Street (see image right) complete with ritual bathing quarters.

Before World War II some 10,000 Jews lived in Belgrade, 80% of whom were Spanish- or Ladino-speaking Sephardim, and 20% Yiddish-speaking Ashkenazim. By August 1942 the Serbian govemment proudly announce that Belgrade was the first city in the New Order to be Judenfrei or "free of Jews." [1]Only 1,115 of Belgrade's twelve thousand Jews would survive. Ninety-five per cent of the Jewish population of Serbia was exterminated.There were three concentration camps for Jews and Gypsies in the city at the time. The majority of Jews were murdered in Serbia. The extent of Serbian participation in the Nazi genocide was significant. The Belgrade concentration camp Banjica was primarily staffed by Serbs and funded by the municipal budget of Belgrade[2].Its Commandant was the infamous pre-war murderer Svetozar Vujkovic. At least 23,967 victims passed through the Serbian section. Anti-Semitism wasn’t imported with the Nazi invasion. It was rife in Serbia and was being pushed chiefly by The Fascist Party "Zbor", Dimitrije Ljotić, and prominent Church dignitaries. In the 1930’s Serbian newspapers particularly Vreme and Balkan towed a fascist line full to the brim with fanciful stories of Jewish-Masonic conspiracies and even called for the boycott of Jewish shops.[/b]
