I am very saddened to hear of this.  Ian Douglas Smith was, unlike almost everyone of his generation (or this generation), a real statesman who did all that he could to preserve civilization in Rhodesia, and to maintain the standard of living for whites and blacks alike.

Ian Smith, leader of the Rhodesia Front and the last white government of Rhodesia died this afternoon at a clinic on the Cape. I thought I should take this opportunity to pay tribute to a man who dedicated his life to his country, fighting to save it from being overrun by the munts. If only South Africa's leaders had the courage of men like Smithy. They were, of course, betrayed by Vorster and his government.

Notice the way the Arsezanian media newspeaks his role as Prime Minister of Rhodesia, as 'dragging the country into isolation and civil war' - no, it couldn't possibly have been that he was the leader of a government fighting terrorists and murderers trying to destroy his country!

Harare (If the man was in Cape Town, why the [censored] report from Harare???) - Ian Smith, Rhodesia's last white prime minister whose attempts to resist black rule dragged the country, now known as Zimbabwe, into isolation and civil war (wtf? It couldn't have been those munts in ZANU who dragged the country into civil war, could it?), has died, according to a family friend. He was 88.

Smith died at a clinic near Cape Town, South Africa, according to longtime friend Sam Whaley. He had recently suffered a stroke. - Sapa-AP

   Here's a Toast to the late, great Ian Smith, A courageous & decent man who fought to maintain western civilisation in his country- RHODESIA.A man who was condemned as a racist & white coloniser by the "International" community of misfits,petty tyrants,murderers & hypocrites. A man who only wanted the best for all the people in his country,black as well as white.A man who led a country that,other than the original thirteen American Colonies,was the only nation to unilaterally defy the British Empire & acheive complete independence if only for a short period of time.Who was betrayed by South Africa's corrupt Prime Minister,J.Balthazar Vorster (A former Nazi sympathiser ,BTW) & the International Community that forced him to step down in favor of the Terrorist Robert "Mug-A-Be" who then proceeded to destroy what Smith & the other Rhodesians(Black & white) hade worked so hard to build up.
   Mr. Smith, I salute you ! You were a real Man among men of which we have seen too few of in this life,if ever again.If for nothing else,history has already vindicated you, As the 27 years of black rule under the kleptomaniac butcher, Robert Mugabe' has been shown to be a terrible fiasco far all involved. I never had the privelidge of meeting you & I feel the poorer for that.I can only hope that once in my life I can shake the hand of a man of similar caliber.
   Rest easy,Mr Smith, You went above & Beyond to do what was right.You did your best & that is a lot more than most people can do.Sleep well.
