‘IceSense’ to Freeze Lumps, Tumors
(IsraelNN.com) Israel’s Arbel Medical has invented a new technology that it hopes will soon be used to treat lumps and tumors without invasive surgery. The IceSense device is based on a technique called cryotherapy, which uses extreme cold to destroy diseased tissue.
IceSense’s creators say cryotherapy is easier to perform than regular surgery and is easier for the patient. The technique has a lower risk of leaving cancerous cells in the body, and does not leave surgery scars. IceSense is small enough to be used in local clinics, they say, and could save space in operating rooms.
