Former health minister Tony Abbott has been given the families, community services and indigenous affairs portfolio.

"Tony is many things but he is a man of conviction," Dr Nelson said.

This is a guy who lies awake at night dreaming up new ways to make the lives of the poorest and most disadvantaged even more miserable.

He's on record as saying people are poor because they don't buy shares!
