New Law: No Mocking the Handicapped
(IsraelNN.com) The Knesset approved a law on Tuesday making it illegal to mock any person based on their physical, mental, or psychological disabilities. Those who violate the law can be prosecuted for slander.
A similar law forbids mocking others based on their race, ethnic background, religion, sex, or sexual tendencies. MK Ron Cohen (Meretz) praised the addition of handicaps to the list, saying the new law was “an important addition to the struggle against discrimination against people with disabilities.”
