Do knives count?
White Israelite:
Any opinions on Gerber knives?
Kiwi:
The butterfly knife I have is double bladed and sits around 9 inchs. I only recommend weapons for women.
And these fit the bill perfectly. They can be carried on the person with ease in a top of a boot, or even down the side of your top of your jeans or in the handbag. There's no risk in the woman getting damaged by the weapon.
Its solely for defence.
You are not looking to slice and dice.
Its more than enough to damage an attacker to allow the opportunity for the woman to flee.
And being a shorter blade the women doesn't risk hitting major organs, which will not result in a murder conviction. ;)
The bonus is the strike area of the attacker then is full body. And not being restricted to other areas.
KansasJew:
If your going to carry a knife never use a folding blade or switchblade. Use a full tang blade that is embedded into the handle and at least five inches on the exposed blade.

I'd argue that in NYC, a lockblade is one of the better "throw away" weapons to carry. Wal-Mart in Westbury carries a nice one that is hard enough for one good fight, but cheap enough to be discarded(Do you really want to be found with a bloody knife in hand?). To get to said Wal-Mart, take the Long Island Rail Road to Carle Place, then walk down Carle Road until you get to Old Country Road(a few blocks). Buy a few of them(They are less than $5 apiece). Also, I'm about to start stocking nonferrous knives for concealed use(will go through a metal detector), if anyone is interested.
ADD: I won't discuss this any more in public, considering that I've been made aware that Informers exist on this forum.
JTFenthusiast2:
You can be trained in how to use an edge weapon. Anyone who is reasonably proficient in Kung Fu has at least had some training with weapons
