I say: And your point is? We have no good candidate anyway.
We have four options right now. It's Obama, Hillary, McCain or Huckabee.
Even if Bush were running again against McCain and Obama/Hillary I'm sure you'd all agree we need to support Bush again.
It's the lesser of evils and that's the best we can get right now.
Bush had a horrific presidency, but he did do a couple of good things:
1. He appointed conservatives to the Supreme Court
2. He did not pressure Israel day and night to give up land (the Jews did that to themselves).
I never heard Bush speak the way Huckabee has spoken about energy independence when he was running. So Huckabee could well be much better than Bush.
Huckabee did raise taxes but not in any significant way as compared to the increase in income levels. The title "Tax Hike Mike" is super hyperbole when you look at the facts. I believe his one cent increase of sales tax he was ordered to do by the Arkansas Supreme Court so he didn't even have a choice.
Besides... the issue of how high the taxes are is not nearly as important as how that tax revenue is being used: either to hurt the country or to help it. People need to research that aspect of his governership in Arkansas instead of just looking at the numbers.
He has also has a solid record for being: anti abortion, anti-homosexual, anti-drugs and pro-health, and pro-environment.
These are all wonderful positions that JTFers should be proud to support.
