How Much Travelling Have You Done?
« on: January 17, 2008, 02:07:22 AM »
Most of mine was growing up.  I went to Israel only one time as a baby, so I don't remember it.  From NYC I hit the usual spots as a kid Florida, VA, D.C..  Then in my early 20s I went to Jamaica (not Queens) thank G-d, California, and Austria on a trip with my Grandmother, a few years before she passed away.  Even though she was Jewish and treated like garbage there, she still held a close bond to the culture for some reason and i wanted her to see it again.  Since my mid-20s til now (30), I really haven't travelled much of anywhere, other than a couple of weekends mainly, and once to Vegas.  Of course, money and time off are big issues.  Anyway, I was wondering where fellow forum members have travelled and where they would like to go.  I would like to see Israel as an adult, don't really remember anything frankly, also several other parts of the U.S., some tropical hotspots, Australia, Canada, parts of Europe and South America, Alaska, and even parts of Africa.  Oh well, it's a long list.  Probably will never happen unless I run into our pal Bloomberg. O0

I've been to several areas in the US as well as out of the country.

I grew up in Chicago suburbs, traveled to Wisconsin (where my mothers family lives), been to Michigan, Ohio, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Florida (where I live currently). Never been to the west coast or the east coast.

1997, went on Carnival Inspiration cruise which we flew to Puerto Rico (been there twice now), stayed in the hotel for one day and watched WWF wrestling in Spanish, next day checked in on the cruise ship and had one of the largest rooms on the ship with balcony. Ship went to Dominican Republic, US Virgin Islands, St Martin, and I think that was it. Next week went to Disney Land.

1998 went on a cruise to Hawaii, best trip I had ever been on. Plane trip was like 8 hours, pretty long trip and what a sight seeing Hawaii from the airplane, very beautiful island. Trip was 3 weeks long, 1 week on a cruise, 2 weeks flying to each island by plane after. It was weird because of the timezones, by the time we got to Hawaii, sun was still up. Cruise ship was older (I think a sister ship to titanic), it was scrapped the following year and the boat still had classes (1st class, 2nd class, 3rd class). Instead of keycards, rooms used a key and I still have mine. I don't remember the name of the ship, but there were no stabilizers so my family got pretty sick at sea. Had the largest room on the ship, few celebrities stayed in the same room we were in. After the cruise, visited the area where Jurassic park was filmed (waterfall), stayed in some nice hotels and got to explore more of the island. Probably one of my best memories was being able to visit Kilauea volcano and actually walk on it. Also first time I went Scuba diving (I was like 12 or 13 at the time) and the water was pretty clear.

1999, Went on Carnival Destiny cruise ship with my family and my aunt and 2 cousins. Launched from Miami Had one of the large rooms again. We visited Cozumel, Jamaica, and the Cayman Islands. Jamaica sucked, though we climbed this huge waterfall which was fun, Cozumel there were a lot of poor people selling stuff from huts, poverty was really high though they had good food (don't drink the water though), nice beaches, and cheap to rent jetskis. Cayman Islands was nice but I didn't get the chance to scuba dive there, got to see the stingrays though out on some sandbar in the middle of no where off coast of cayman islands which was a neat experience. Went to disney land the week after.

After that, didn't go on a cruise until 2003 which was the Carnival Destiny again, large room again, our family (my mother, brother and I), my aunt, cousin, and her husband, my moms younger sister, and her parents. Flew to Puerto Rico and launched the following day, went to Aruba, Barbados, and Martinique. Aruba was a nice island, great beaches, Barbados also had great beaches but there wasn't much to see there, Martinique I believe was French, all the blacks had a French accent and it was full of swamps. I thought it was an interesting island though.

Pretty much where i've traveled. I'd like to visit Israel, Japan, Germany and the Czech republic.

"Bardzo prawdopodobne, że początek swego istnienia husarze zawdzięczają Serbom. Po klęsce na Kosowym Polu w roku 1389 wszędzie szukali okazji do pomsty na Turkach.
Jan Długosz zapisał pod rokiem 1463, że w bitwie nad Sawą bił się Cohors Raczanorum (oddział Raców - Serbów). Po śmierci króla Macieja Korwina Serbowie udali się do Polski, aby kontynuować walkę z Turkami po usarsku."

"The hussar concept began in Serbia, near the end of the 14th century. In the 16th century, painted wings or winged claws began to appear on cavalry shields. Wings were originally attached to the saddle and later to the back. In 1645, Col. Szczodrowski was said to have used ostrich wings.
In 1500, the Polish Treasury books make reference to hussars. Early on, they were foreign mercenaries, and were called Racowie from "Rascia" a word meaning "of Serbia." They came from the Serbian state of Ras."

India is the universe by itself, ASHISH !!!

 O0 O0 O0

Long Live to India !!!
never been out of Europe, myself.
I respect my own continent, I think it is just big enough, not too small, not to big.
Of course, Europa for me includes all of Siberian Russia.
That makes Europe the biggest continent in the World.
 ;D

True.

But a divided one...
that's the most stupid mistake we made
Turkey must get out of NATO. NATO must get out of Kosovo-Serbia. Croats must get out of Crajina. All muslims must get out of Christian and Jewish land. Turks must get out of Cyprus. Turks must get out of "Istanbul". "Palestinians" must get out of Israel. Israel must become independent from USA.

How is europe divided?
It was always divided between Slavs, Germans, Franks, Romans, ...
Also between Catholics, Orthodox, Protestants, Anglicans,...
We have the split between Russia and EU.
Which is very bad for Europe, in fact.
