The news reports about children finding guns, mistakenly firing them, and killing themselves or other children scares me to death. I may get a tazer when my husband is deployed though.

I definitely hear your concern. A tazer is a good alternative.
Does you husband carry a firearm when he is back home?
--- End quote ---
No. His is at the armery. He use to have a 9mm though. Our oldest daughter was a baby but I was still scared.

Didn't you grow up on Chicago's south side?
--- End quote ---
Yes, what's that got to do with anything?

Did you know 'Bad' Leroy Brown in the 70s?
He used to carry a .32 in his pocket and a razor in his shoe.

Newman, and anyone else...Why is it that some whites think that every black person knows each other? NO. I don't have an idea of who "Bad" Leroy Brown was. Jeez. I was born in 1974. (Which will make me 34 on Friday... ) I hope that .32 helped him out...or something... *don't know what you want me to say. He sounds like a hood.*
--- End quote ---
His occupation was described as 'gambler'.
He owned a cutom Lincoln Continental and a Cadillac El Dorado.
--- End quote ---
Are you obsessed with crime in the black community, newman?
--- End quote ---
Maybe your folks knew him.
Apparently the downtown ladies all used to call him 'treetop lover' because he stood about 6'4".
--- End quote ---
No, my mom and dad never heard of him.

Well Erica, let me tell you a little bit more about him..... 8;)
well south side of Chicago
Is the baddest part of town
And if you go down there, you better just beware
Of a man named Leroy Brown
Now Leroy he's trouble
he stod about six feet four
All the downtown ladies call him: "treetop lover"
All the studs they call him Sir
He's bad, bad Leroy Brown
baddest man in the whole damn town
Badder that old King Kong
And He's Meaner that a junkyard dog
Now Leroy he's a gambler
And he likes his fancy clothes
He likes to wave his diamond ring(s)
In front of everybody's nose
He's got a custom Continental
He's got an Eldorado too
He's got a 32 gun in his pocket for fun
He's got a razor in his shoe
Yeah He's bad, bad Leroy Brown
baddest man in the whole damn town
Badder that old King Kong
And Meaner that a junkyard dog
well Friday - 'bout a week ago
Leroy shootin' dice
And at the edge of the bar, sat a lady named Doris
umm she sure looked nice
Well he layed his eyes upon her
and the trouble soon began
And Leroy Brown he learned a lesson 'bout messin'
With the wife of a jealous man
Yeah He's bad, bad Leroy Brown
baddest man in the whole damn town
Badder that old King Kong
And Meaner that a junkyard dog
Bad, Bad, Leroy Brown by Jim Croce
You thought Leroy Brown was a real person, ha ha! :::D

I don't know if you could tell by my responses, New Yorker but I really didn't care. I am not impressed by violence.

Ultra Requete:
No to many paperwork, and money to obtain it, without the second license to carry it, its useless and the law concerning the gun use make you; not criminal gulty until you prove otherwise... I carry the pocket knife though...
dejavu:
I have a concealed permit (got it right after my 21st b-day) however rarely bring it (most of the time leave it in my car or leave it in my kitchen). Also living in the southwest unless the law changed i believe it is legal to carry as long as it is not concealed without a special permit.
All in all i have a 9mm beretta and DE .50 for handguns. 12gauge, 22, and a .300 Winchester Magnum... No assault rifles yet. Not really into them and only go to the range for target practice not to lose my paycheck buying ammo. Been thinking about one lately though.
