The United Kingdom is a "new" best friend? They have been our ally for over a hundred years. Since we finally took on the Spanish and began exploiting Anglo influence in Latin America; something the British had been in favor of accomplishing with America before the Monroe Doctrine left Britain on the outer banks of the American sphere.
