Fortis kapituleert voor moslims
Fortis-klanten die voor hun kinderen een zogenoemde EuroKids-rekening openen, krijgen daarbij niet langer het speciale spaarvarkentje Knorbert cadeau. Als verklaring voert Fortis aan dat 'Knorbert niet voldoet aan de eisen die de multiculturele samenleving aan ons stelt'.

Varkens worden door joden en moslims als onreine dieren beschouwd. Ook de internetspelletjes en cartoons met de jaren terug al bedachte Knorbertje in de hoofdrol zijn door Fortis beëindigd. Volgens een woordvoerster is er 'een aantal reacties geweest op het varken' en wordt er gewerkt aan een nieuw presentje dat 'leuk is voor kinderen van welke signatuur dan ook'. Als tussenoplossing biedt de bank nu een kinderencyclopedie aan.

Tijd voor een andere bank zouden wij zeggen. Van de Joden hebben ze zich nooit wat aangetrokken maar moslims zijn blijkbaar zo belangrijk dat ze menen te moeten capituleren voor deze oprukkende middeleeuwse doctrine.

According to a spokesperson there's' been a number of comments on the pig, "and Fortis is working on a new present that is "fun for children of any signature". As interim, the bank now offers a children-encyclopedia.

Time for another bank we say. About the Jews, they never cared , but Muslims are apparently so important that they believe it is necessary to surrender to this advancing medieval doctrine.

Netherlands: Bank drops piggy-bank present

Children who open a saving account at Fortis get a present: a roguish piggy-bank, named Knorbert.  Throughout the years tens of thousands of kids had received it, but that is now at an end.  Knorbert won't be given to kids as a present any more. 

A pig is a touchy issue for some of the clients: Jews and Muslims consider it unclean.  The bank wrote in an internal document that Knorbert "doesn't fulfill the requirements that the multicultural society places on us any more."  the document not to De Telegraaf which published it on the front page.  Fortis would have preferred to keep a lower profile on it.

The spokesperson for the Belgian-Dutch bank-insurer did not want to talk about it, but did confirm that Knorbert is out, saying that after seven years he needed to be replaced, and that when making the choice for a new welcome gift, you need to take your public into account.  You want to appear to as many people as possible.

According to Fortis there was a 'handful' of complaints about it.  They will now think of a new gift.

Fortis is benefiting from the fact that the parliament is currently in recess.  In Geert Wilders' party there was nobody around to make a statement.
