We really set the bar pretty high the first few presidents out of the box.  Seriously, who could compete with George Washington.  Who else could be such a tough guy, even with a powdered wig.

You never hear anything about Johnson or Eisenhower, who both went through troubled periods of the cold war and vietnam.

Best 20th and 21st Century Presidents:

   T. Roosevelt and R. Reagan

Worst 20th and 21st Century Presidents:

Reagan (YIMACH SCHMO VEZICHRO) put Jonathan Pollard on death row and made our country as entrenched with the Saudis as it currently is.

Reagan's defense secretary hated Jews and Israel.

Casper made sure that Pollard was put in jail

Reagan appointed some bad people to his administration--too many conservatives overrate Reagan.

I'd say Warren G. Harding or Calvin Coolidge.  Seems the since before FDR American was circling the bowl.... :'(

Where do you think Woodrow Wilson should be?  He allowed the Federal Reserve to be implemented as well as a federal income tax.

The Fed would have been fine if not for the inflationary policies practiced as a result of having decipated the gold standard and high quality interest rates.  As was the original American system of Henry Clay, a sturdy financial system backed by national credit is essential for corporations and big business to operate in this country.  Big business is the standard to which a country can compete in the world without self-destruction of its own national resources like in communism.

The income tax is controversial but had been originally implemented in the 1860s during the Civil War.  You can thank the Pollack decision of 1895 which rejected the govt's right to directly tax property (in other words, conservatives were too much so for their own good! ;)), as an inevitable prececessor to the Income Tax Amendment which still didn't kick in until 1913.  William Taft, another sellout conservative Republican to progressive :::D anti-business principles was actually the president during the initiation of the 16th Amendment.

However, it must be said my me that if your a small business lover who adheres to free trade, low interest rate, "silver standard" self-punitive Draconian/JACKSONIAN principles you are likely anti-central bank and pro-income tax which is in essence the dubious, shameful descendent of Jeffersonian Hayseed Socialism.  :o

Multinational corporations like "free trade."  I'm not sure if small businesses like it.

Your explanation is confusing and you may be mixing up things.

FDR was the worst as Chaim stated.

Indeed, FDR is responsible for the relinquishment of economic responsibility in the country.  I would say a borderline pure socialist.  If he was able to pack the supreme court bench as he saw fit in the late '30s, there is no telling whether this country would have become purely socialist like the USSR.  Adlai Stevenson (of the 1950s) would have loved that ! >:( ::)

Note: FDR was the first US president to RECOGNIZE the USSR.  Just to show you where on mount high the presidency stood before Frank the Ruse took office.

One thing about FDR is that during the years after Pearl Harbor, I don't think he pandered to people of Japanese or German descent.  Instead, he tried to make sure that they were loyal to the US.

But I don't think there was an ACLU then.  They probably would have tried to sue FDR.

Bush Jr.  has been too nice to certain groups since 9/11.

Woodrow Wilson was inept.  His Communist advisor; Colonel House with Rockefeller and Communist influance founded the League of Nations...   ;)  Woodrow Wilson is akin to a Clinton, Bush or Carter imo...

Yes Exactly! Whats more in the last part of his administration he was  incommunicado with stroke and his wife was for all purposes the acting as president under the guise of sitting in on his behalf to represent his policies. Much of the bad policy from his administration set the stage for WW2.

I can't believe how many people love Reagan.

Reagan was a faker, an actor.

More Mexicans flooded into this country under Reagan than under any other president.

Also, Jimmy was coincidentally the dumbest president on economic issues as well.  (Although some say FDR was his equal)

Good point.  I suggest the book "The Insiders" by McManus.  Very good book with the backing of Goldwater's memoirs on the CFR's affiliation with the electoral process and the governing of America, one will conclude that Regan lost his Conservatism when he decided to bend over to CFR pressure and accept the Republican nomination.  For those who do not understand what I just wrote, read the book "A Choice Not an Echo" - P.S.
