US Shoots Down Dangerous Satellite

(IsraelNN.com) The United States Navy has succeeded in shooting a dying US satellite that posed a danger, US officials said Thursday.  A Naval missile hit the satellite at a distance of 210 kilometers above sea level, they said.  Officials said they believe the satellite’s fuel tank was destroyed in the collision.

Experts expressed concern recently that the satellite would land in a populated area, and could release hundreds of kilograms of toxic fuel.  The fears led to Thursday’s operation, the first of its kind.  Scientists involved with the project said that pieces of the destroyed satellite would fall towards earth over the next two days.

I hope they get it, because in my understanding its payload is deadly.
