The Pashtun nationalist leader Asfandyar Wali Khan whose secular Awami National Party is ready to form a government in Pakistan’s North-West Frontier Province, has said that talks with the Taleban are ‘a must’ to restore peace in the volatile tribal regions of Pakistan.

The Pashtu-language newspaper Wrazparana Wahdat quoted him as saying: ‘‘If we can have peace talks with Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, why not with [Taleban commander] Baitullah Mehsood? They [the Taleban] are the citizens of Pakistan.’

So acc to him both of them are equal
