Acquiring Food.
1. Spending For Shabbat.
A) One shows how they honor Shabbat with the amount of time and effort that they put into preparing. A person should put as much effort that they possibly can. Because you receive a lot of reward of this.
B) For example a person works all year and on Rosh Hashanah we are judged for how much we will earn. And the amount of money that we spend in preparing for Shabbat will come back twice as much.
2. Meat, wine and fish.
A) There is no obligation to eat meat, fish and drink wine, one should still eat a lot of these things, because it’s a special day.
B) Its good to have at least two meals, and to eat fish by all three meals. A person that eats fish will merit to raise from the grave when Mashiach comes. There are three things that a person must do in order to wake up during the time of Mashiach, and by eating fish by all three meals is one of them.
C) However if one doesn’t like meat, or fish or wine, then he shouldn’t force himself, because the mitzva is to enjoy oneself on Shabbat.
3. Giving Charity.
A) those that are accustomed to give charity to the poor, for Shabbat, they should give enough for that person to be able to have three meals.
B) If a person only has enough for two meals then he should just eat those two meals, and not go and beg for more.
4. Borrowing For Shabbat
A) If a person doesn’t have money to make Shabbat, then he should borrow, in order to fulfill the mitzva of enjoying on Shabbat.
B) And if a person cant repay they should leave it up to Hashem. Hashem made a promise that He will provide, its stated in the Talmud Bavli (Beitza 15b): “ My children, borrow on My account to sanctify the day, trust in Me and I shall pay.” The day refers to Shabbat.
